It has been reported that vacuum processing is quite effective to obtain high density of concrete. The method, however, has not been successfully used for the concrete work in the field of building construction, compared with that of civil engineering works in Japan. In the present study, in order to clarify the best way to improve the usual vacuum processing method in the building construction work, a series of experiment is carried out. In this paper, the effect of the mesh size of filter mats for vacuum processing has been examined and discussion has been carried out on the strength distribution inside concrete slabs.

Several studies have been made by the author on improvement of vacuum processing method for slab concrete so far. From the earlier studies, it has been shown that the most effective timing for vacuum processing is just after the end of bleeding. However, the finishing time of bleeding is influenced by many factors. In this study, the degree of bleeding has been evaluated from the consistency of fresh concrete, and a simple evaluation method for starting time of vacuum processing has been newly proposed.

This report shows passing year survey of heat insulations and waterproofing at heat storage tank that constructed by PVC resin sheet. As a result, aging waterproofing sheet was shown that still remained the function of tensil strength and coefficient of extension yet. Furthermore, many part which heat insulations transformed was escaped damage of waterproofing by the favor of PVC sheet’s extension. From this, it is important that makes clear the function of PVC sheet’s extension and criteria for selection of thermal insulation to be used. A futre subject is positive accumulation of data and examined experimental validity on that materials.

Water-based emulsion paints and solvent-based paints including aliphatic organic solvent were evaluated by the outdoor exposure test at Florida state in USA for three years. Solvent type of paints which include aromatic organic compounds were also evaluated for comparison. Measurement of gloss retention and color difference was performed every third month. It was found that some water-based paints were as durable as the corresponding organic solvent type of paints including aromatic solvent. Therefore, it is possible to obtain water-based emulsion patints as durable as organic solvent type of paints.

Although the building materials with antimicrobial or stain-proof performance have been in use recently, the evaluation method of those has not been established yet. Therefore, the authors have been trying to evaluate them by use of electrical surface resistance. This paper describes the results of the outdoor test of about one year and the accelerated weathering test of 3000 hours aiming to examine the performance of exterior tile with optical catalyst stain-proof. As the results of those, it was clarified that the surface resistance of tiles corresponded to stain. Consequently, the degree of stain attached to tiles can be evaluated by use of surface resistance.

Renewal of existing buildings is being closely watched due to a decrease in the number of new construction or from the viewpoint of conservation of natural resources. A good many essays have been issued on building repair methods and technique from the general to the particular. Nevertheless, it has not been much disclosed that with what concept or ingenuity, personnel of individual firms or organizations, who is in charge of building maintenance, actually provides services. Even if there were excellent studies on maintenance, it would be nearly valueless from a social standpoint if such studies were not put into practice. Although it is not easy to turn the concept or ingenuity into studies or essays, I dare introduce an example of a concept that a renewal section of a developer has, and hope it will help you to deepen your knowledge about the issue. I hope, in future, that more presentations with a similar viewpoint as this will be made, and that we will have opportunities of exchanging practical opinions on repair methodologies.

Plastic wastes such as a PP,PE,PET are drained in large quantities, and it is very important in recycling these materials. When a recycling board is formed by a plastic waste without classification, a bending strength of a recycling board is small, and use as a board is impossible. So a making technology of recycling board is developed by mixing wastepaper and wasteplastic fiber. Characteristics of this study is that wasteplastic is classified by using its melting point and centrifugal force.

However, this method applies temperature to the whole interior of a room. Therefore, this technique may require the load by heat too much according to the kind of material. This research checked the influence of the material by temperature conditions. Specifically, the material which changed temperature conditions was analyzed in the small-scale chamber experiment. Consequently, it was found that the concentration reduction effect changes with substances.

In newly built houses, it is known well that the initial gas concentration rises. The gases evolving from volatile organic compounds (VOC) increase rapidly from the onset of interior finishing work. In most cases, the VOC concentration will not have decreased at the time completion of the building. This research investigates whether the VOC concentration attenuates when ventilation is performed after completing the interior finishing work. The effectiveness of ventilation was studied in the following three cases: 1)use of ventilating openings, 2)use of a ventilating fan and 3)use of an air-cleaning machine. The measurements were carried out for a month in the living room and in a bedroom. It was found that the VOC concentration decreases from the initial stages when the air-cleaning machine is used. In contrast, the concentration increased when the rooms were maintained in a sealed condition.
