Conventional three-dimensional displays do not satisfy all physiological factors of human three-dimensional perception completely so that there are two problems: one is accommodation-vergence conflict and the other is imperfect motion parallax. Super multi-view (SMV) display technique and high-density directional (HDD) display technique have the possibility to solve these two problems to realize natural three-dimensional displays. In this paper, these two techniques are described. The way of retinal image formation by the HDD display is explained to show that very smooth motion parallax is obtained by this technique. The measurement results of accommodation responses to the HDD display are shown, and the enlargement of the depth range in which the accommodation works properly is shown to be explained by considering the enlargement of the depth of field of an eye imaging system depending on the ray directivity. The development targets for the natural three-dimensional displays are described.

“Fractional view display” is the 3D Display that can represent the “ spatial image”, - or the appearance of objects. It can represent a “ spatial image” although it is constructed by simple hardware, because the directions of rays are able to calculated very correctly. Spatial image is the image that constructed by not interleaving several views, but sampling the rays in real space. The methods using spatial image can provide observers more natural 3D images than multi-view method can do.Because of sampling the rays impartially, Fractional view method can provide the more “ seamless view” than multi-view method, and higher resolution than the other spatial imaging method.

Tone is mentioned as a factor to decide the evaluation of images, as well as theme, composition or color. Tone is portrayed by lighting and shadow. The sensitivity of human's eyes is high in brightness, so it is thought that tone is a big factor in the image portrayal. In this paper addition of painting tone which was excellent to photograph for improving image's portrayal.

3-D Scene generation with real images on immersive projection displays which have high-resolution and wide field of view are expected to be applied for many kinds of fields like a tele-existence and interactive communication. However, that challenge requires special devices, like a multiple camera array, or off-line processings which obstruct interactive contents. Therefore, in this research, we propose a technique that reconstructs wide view-angle images for immersive projection displays by reusing past image frames including peripheral images which are not seen from a present viewpoint in real-time.

For any design analysis, it is very important to have a real size visualization of the virtual world. However, the appearance of a virtual world differs from that of the real world. In particular, there are large disparities in the size of interior areas, such as rooms, even though the image is projected using the proper transformations to the correct size. The room appears larger than it is in reality, and as do objects close to the camera. We have experimented with the perceived "errors" in length and depth on CyberDome, a hemispherical visual display system, in order to find the cause of this difference.
