We realized the hologram which can be observed from 360 degrees by a computer-generated cylindrical hologram(CGCH). Since the hologram is the Fresnel type and has full parallax, it is an ideal display for a three-dimensional object. However, the thing which can be displayed is only dead object and it is not attractive for entertainment. Therefore, we have investigated an animated CGCH by changing object data according to the viewpoint, and obtained some experimental results.

It is becoming possible to calculate computer-generated holograms of three-dimensional objects that have more than one billion pixels, even with normal personal computers. In the previous report, we have fabricated holograms more than ten giga pixels with our fringe printer. Since the viewing area is becoming large, it is important to consider hidden-surface removal method to the Fresnel hologram. In this paper, we make high resolution CGH with hidden-surface removal. In addition, we have made the two elementary color (red and green) holograms as the master holograms to make the multicolor transfer hologram. In the result, we have obtained a good reconstructed image from high resolution multicolor hologram.

We devised the space screen which sprayed a smoke particle on air space in a study of the animation holography that I used a DMD panel last year for namely the stereo image projective technique that reflected a hologram on solid screen. As a result, it was proved that I could observe a stereo image. However, a water particle had a short time when it continued functioning as screen after it was sprayed on air space, and density of screen was light.

Generally 3D cameras have a parallax distance 65mm. Also we are tired in our eyes and brains by over emphasized 3D movie images. My first idea (38 years ago in Sony corp.) was utilizing parallax within a single-lens aperture. I have completed a prototype camera recently. Single-lens Micro Parallax stereo movie camera can zoom and macro shooting, quite natural 3D images. Even if without stereo glasses, we have not double ghost right and left images but normal 2D. Operate easy as a home video camera.

Cell production system is able to flexibly alter manufacturing plans for responding to diversification of customer needs, however, each worker is supposed to skillful to finish the products by him/herself. Instruction manuals should also be prepared as many as the product types increase. Though conventional printed manuals are still commonly used, large amount of paper is not friendly for the workers and printed contents hardly show 3D information. 3D computer graphics (CG) is capable of changing views and transparency of the contents and has intrinsic advantage of digital data which can be accessed easily on digital device displays. This research proposes a new method to produce human motion needed for assembly process with inverse kinematics so that the CG guided manual can be prepared easily.

The multiple display function by a plurality of video thumbnails is useful as intuitive User Interface in the video access that users select video contents of their desire, because of it's possibility of making their potential needs for the video contents actualized. However, real-time generation of the video thumbnails corresponding to a lot of video contents needs huge amount of processing. In this research, we propose the method of decoding multiple streams that can decrease the amount of processing for decoding of multiple video streams and deal with a temporary increase of processing load. Especially, we investigate the load-balancing technology that make the amount of processing uniform by adjusting the processing load of decoding that changes time-wise, and verify the effect of the technology.

Today's image has brought a rich information culture by the image data processing and the expression technology of the computer. On the other hand, eyes of the audience have been sophisticated and have the ability of the presence and the sense of incompatibility detection. It is a good opportunity to hear the voice of the image creator about the expression, and the sensibility for the idea of the conflict point in a difference of media and technical evolution. The special invitation speaker Mr. Kawazoe was born on 1959. After graduation from Waseda University, he joined the special effects atelier Animation Staff Room for about 12 years, made good use of a variety of special effects technologies from the animation to miniature production, the development of the motion control camera, the special art design, and the computer graphics, and involving in production of a lot of images mainly TVCM. After his establishment of “SPACY corp.” . In 1995, he has supervised VFX of movies such as “Spy Sorge” , “The Sea Watches”, “Owl's Castle”, and “Pride ‘Moment of the fate’ ” , and expanded his interest to the music promotion, the game development, the WEB contents production, and the event etc. Recently, he owns “SPACY Products Ltd.” and very active as a pioneer of the CG industry.

We already created some simple movies of facial animation based on FACS: Facial Action Coding System with 3DCG. On the FACS, the detailed human facial expressions can be controlled individually as combination of minimum units of facial expression movement: Action Unit. However, in our conventional research, it was difficult to express the wrinkles of the cheeks which are important to express facial expression. This is because we had not considered structure of muscles on facial model. We created a face model in this paper again when considering of the structure of muscles on facial model. And we created facial animation movies which expressed the wrinkles of the cheeks on the anger or laughter expressions.

It has passed 400 years from when Edo began, so there are almost only ferroconcrete buildings stands in a row in Tokyo. We can imagine a part of life of Edo from literatures and historical maps, but it is hard to know historical city Edo from urban city. So, we create virtual historical and urban city which can compare each other by using Computer Graphics. Our goal is to create digital archive contents for elementary and junior high education and tourist visiting Tokyo. In this paper, we describe some techniques for restoration and restorated landscape walk through.

A lot of problems occur when rigging for character animation. The constructed rig is different according to bodily features of the character model or necessary motion. It is necessary to examine suitable rig for the character. However, because the information is not enough to solve the problems that occur when rigging, it is a very difficult process for beginner. We propose the rigging techniques for some problems occur when rigging.

We propose a real-time water surface rendering method at the downstream of a river for landscape simulation. The proposed method divides the river wave model according to the distance from the viewpoint. In a short distance, we adopted Stokes wave as the wave model in order to express the wave in detail, and express the direction change of the wave by considering the reflection at the riverbank. On the other hand, in a medium and long distance, we attempted speed-up by using cosine wave as a simple model of the wave, and by quasi expression with bump mapping method. Also, wind effect is considered for all kinds of distance since it can be seen even in a long distance. As the result of our experiments, we have confirmed that a river can be rendered in real time for the river model composed of about 42,000 polygons.

There are two major refraction methods of an object that is in the water: ray tracing and refraction mapping. Ray tracing method can represent precise refraction, but needs heavy calculation time. On the other hand, refraction mapping method is faster than ray tracing because it prepares images of the surrounding environment and maps the images on CG models considering refraction of light, however, real-time refraction is difficult for the case of dynamic change. Therefore, we propose a fast refraction method of an object floating on the water by performing refraction calculation, which is based on snell's law, only for vertices constructing the object and by interpolating between these vertices.

The purpose of this study is to consider qualitatively the roles of background music and sound effects in video expression, by evaluating video works created by college students as an assignment. First, the works that received the highest evaluation were those with sounds that suitably matched the video images, so we examined the importance of sound effects in video expressions. A qualitative analysis of video scenes that greatly moved the audience revealed two key factors, namely, clarity of the story development of the scenario and proper timing of music/sound effects. The message conveyed by camera work is related to the flow of video images. To give a clear message through the video images, therefore, the visual expressions should clearly present the messages and be accompanied by suitable music/sound effects. It was also suggested that the effective combination of images and sounds can enable the video work to move the audience. In the future, we plan to examine in further detail combinations of sound effects and camera work, i.e., what images should be taken with what kind of camera angle, as well as the importance of timing.

I made a planar object a three-dimensional cartoon film. I give a planar family crests (KAMON) and pattern without the thickness depth information and become the placement such as the setting scene of the stage. Because individual object own does not have depth, a flat picture in the picture book just starts falling out and pictures floats and seems to drift. I become the work which imaged the picture scroll which works because parallel moves KAMON and Japanese old pattern. The reason that chose KAMON and a pattern to an object is because I want you to realize Japanese original beauty and design-related height again.

It surely has the reality and the difference though the memory is accumulation of the actuality. This indistinct difference is a key to comprehend essence of the movie, and it becomes a clue that interprets human. I cherished consistent atmosphere of the movie at "Aboukyu" in order to not break the obscure and delicate difference. So as not to destroy the tone of the movie, I considered the expression by “ Optical effects ” and “ 3-DCG ”.
