National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) tries to develop audio and video technologies toward ultra-realistic communication in future. In this paper, some of the current displays and cameras for 3D visual systems in NICT are introduced, such as electronic holography, large-size glasses-free 3D display, tabletop 3D display, and so on. From the April in 2013, NICT has released one of them, 200-inch glasses-free 3D display “REI” (Ray Emergent Imaging), to the public in Osaka; everybody can enjoy it freely anytime.

A head-up display (HUD) superimposes the reflected display images on background spaces through see-through combiner such as window-shield. The most important advantage of HUD is that the user can glance at display information with minimum movement of the gaze point. For many years, it had been requested to not only set to the display image at any depth position of the driver's gaze point, but also solve the tradeoff problems between wide-viewing and HUD size. To solve these problems, we developed novel monocular head-up-display for easy depth control and Fresnel mirror attached on the window-shield for wide viewing.

We are developing a teleconference systems using multi-view display technique because it is especially beneficial that a multi-view display can show views of a remote participant from the direction in which the participant’s face is pointing. In this paper, we propose MulDiRoH, a human representation system comprising a multi-view display that uses a QDA screen and multiple cameras. The use of the QDA screen offers the benefit of a large, wide viewing area that enables observers to comfortably watch the display. It also provides convenience in that it is unnecessary to accurately orient the projectors, which facilitates easy system construction.

3D Visual Function Trainer - ORTe is a new visual function test and orthoptics system using the 3D technique. This novel apparatus using 3D technology, was able to quantitatively evaluate visual function. This apparatus offers clinical promise in the evaluation of visual function. I introduce 3D Visual Function Trainer - ORTe which is one form of a normal evolution of visual function test and orthoptics.

The contents of high presence technology are various, for example, it is holography, 3D Display, HMD, HUD and so on. They have been developed day and night in universities, government offices and laboratories of companies. But they are elemental technologies, so we must think about the way for them to be accepted in the market. Here I describe how high presence technology has been accepted in the market while presenting the latest these cases.
