This study independently examined and compared two structural models of mental health for general workers. Model 1 consisted of work-life balance, emotional exhaustion, and mental health, and Model 2 consisted of occupational balance, emotional exhaustion, and mental health. The evaluation focused on structure, fit indices, path coefficients, and R-squared values. The models required modification, but fit the data after adjustments. Model 1, as confirmed by previous research, demonstrated that emotional exhaustion is caused by work-related factors, resulting in reduced mental health. Model 2 demonstrated that occupational balance directly influenced emotional exhaustion and mental health. These findings suggest that occupational balance may help maintain and enhance the mental health of general workers. However, large-scale studies are required to provide further evidence.
