Checking a technical drawing to make sure there is no mistake in it is an important and inevitable part of design process. Though computer-aided design technologies now provide designers with facilities to produce drawings efficiently in general, check of the drawings is still designers' task. To save designers' time and effort and to reduce possible human errors as oversight and misunderstanding through the check process, it should be an effective approach to computerize the check of drawings systematically. This paper proposes a method to computerize the process of checking CAD drawings based on drafting rules specified in a standard, such as JIS. The method is implemented in a Prologbased drawing check system and applied to some CAD drawing examples. The effectiveness and promise of the method is confirmed through the results of checking the drawing with the system.
Drawing problems are solved to learn a subject in the Descriptive Geometry. Gaspard Monge was the first person to arrange the problems of Descriptive Geometry. Given the top and front views of a line, a learner finds the length of the line and the angle in space. The problem is a typical teaching material in the Descriptive Geometry. This paper analyzed procedure knowledge to solve the problem. A learn-er needs many kinds of knowledge and skill to solve the problem.
