Examples of sculptural objects with an unchanging center of gravity (solid geometric objects that maintain a constant height when moved) can be found in the past. I have used this idea as a point of departure in my production of experimental sculptural objects, prototypes that roll smoothly on the floor. I have produced such objects over many years. On this occasion I have made the prototypes of stainless steel. These large objects can be touched directly by viewers. The entire object can be rolled, allowing the viewer to experience the movement and changes in form of the object.
We outline the geometry and CAD related lectures in the curriculum for students of architecture and civil engineering at the University of Innsbruck. Two lectures, “CAD II” and “Perspective Extension” are described in more detail.
