This article reports the contents of panel discussion held on October 24, 2019 in the 60th High Pressure Conference of Japan. Eight panelists gave presentations on the progress of high-pressure sciences in the past 30 years and future perspectives for forthcoming 30 years in the fields of physics, shock compression, materials, chemistry, biology, foods, earth science, use of pulsed neutron and synchrotron radiation. Finally, we discussed our future directions of the high-pressure community.
