In recent years, material informatics that combines material science and data science attracts attention. From the experience and lesson on bioinformatics, we tried to apply concepts and tools developed there to materials science. Conventional material informatics promotes material development by combining computational science, high-throughput material synthesis and evaluation, and a database that stores material data. However, recently, new material development using data science, machine learning and deep learning are underway. Here, we introduce the current situation on Materials Informatics of several countries and overview the trends concerning Materials Informatics in the future.

Policy measures under the term Open Science are proliferating since the joint statement by the G8 Science Ministers on open scientific research data and research publications in 2013. However, the term and the idea of Open Science has not really penetrated into researcher’s mind. Academic institutions such as universities are also indecisive in actions to take on the new movement of Open Science.
In this paper, “Open Science” is categorized into three large and ten small categories, and the perceptions of the academia and the possible universities’ actions are examined for each category. Summarizing the analysis, the role of universities in promoting the idea of Open Science is discussed. It concludes that it is desirable for universities not to action merely on the mandates of funding agencies on sharing research outputs but to try to adapt the university to the new research paradigm of Open Science by advocating the academics within the university and by providing the necessary environment.

The authors extracted Digital Object Identifier (DOI) links on Japanese, English, and Chinese Wikipedias as of March 2015, 2016, and 2017 for a time series analysis. As a result, it is revealed that (1) the number of DOI links on each language Wikipedia is increasing year by year, (2) the number of DOI links uniquely referenced on each language Wikipedia is increasing year by year, (3) scholarly information of Japan tends to be referenced more on Japanese Wikipedia than other languages, and (4) there are unique references to scholarly information of Japan on each language Wikipedia and it is increasing year by year.

In recent years, the movement of "open science" has become active in the world. The importance of the data disclosure system has been increasing year by year, and the demand for a repository system for research data that is machine readable and convenient for both humans and machines is increasing. Because most of the data repositories were developed by individual institutes independently, they have problems in terms of versatility, convenience, and coordination between systems. We plan to construct public data repositories for Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology and Center for Cultural Resource Studies in Kanazawa University. In the study, we utilize WEKO, which was developed by the National Institute of Informatics and has already been applied to JAIRO cloud. We aim to design a public data repository for research data not only to open the data widely to society but also to be convenient for researchers to register and correct the contents even if they are not familiar with the internal structure of the system.

Museum goods can be cited as one of the uses of materials at museums and museums. However, most of the merchandise currently on sale has few information on the materials, and there is no means to obtain detailed information on the materials from the goods. There is a museum with a detailed data base on the disclosure of material information, but also museums where catalogs are not well organized. It is still difficult for each museum to release material information at the same level.
So we made an attempt to obtain information on goods through goods. This made it possible to release information from the museum where it was difficult to release the information electronically. We used the QR code to correlate goods with material information. Depending on published material information, museum communication through goods becomes possible. These have a new role in museums for goods. In this presentation, I will describe the outline of the goods developed and future possibilities.

Utilization and dissemination in the preservation and inheritance and society for the future of museum materials have been demanded. We have been constructing Subject-Repository to target Scientific Instruments and Wall Charts that created in the Meiji era, assigned DOI to each of the information. This paper describes about outline of repository system and as future attempts to publish and utilize material information in society, posting of information on the SNS and collaboration with museum goods, future developments.

Research Data Management (RDM) is one of the important research process for promoting researchintegrity and open science. But, in Japan, there are few human resources have skill of RDM yet. So we, “Research Data Task Force” (RD-TF) be organized by JPCOAR, developed “RDM Training Tool” that is a training tool for learning skill of RDM and have published RDM Training Tool on 2017-06-06. Furthermore, we are cooperating with National Institute of Informatics (NII) for beginning online lecture courses named “Research data management in the open science era”. In this proposal, we introduced activities about supporting learning about Research Data Management, and discussion.
