Material are positioned as basic elements to make our society, and data, information and knowledge on materials are assumed as “language” to implement our society. Based on this metaphor “language” the author investigated basic specifications of future materials data systems. In this first report delivered from the starting point, the concept of the basic specifications as a system and important issues about the implementation are reported with a brief summary on previous R&Ds of materials data systems and next 30 years perspectives on dissemination and value-added life cycle of data/information/knowledge.
