The official documents of the government-general of Formosa is the Official document collection of Japanese government about Taiwan before the Second World War. The documents are preserved in favorable condition, and were published openly, although the official documents of Japanese government in that time have not been published openly. Therefore, those are available for research uses and are very scarce historical documents. Though those documents have been digitized continuously in Chukyo University, the already digitized catalog of those documents in Meiji era was utilized for quantitative analysis of chronological shift in administrative document in that time. As a result, other than human resources and notification and regulations in the government office, most frequent category was about hygiene. Especially cowpox and cholera were mentioned frequently.

This paper is a research report as a sequel to "A Quantitative analysis into Waka collection and an Approach by machine learning” presented at the 25th Annual Conference of Japan Society of Information and Knowledge in 2017. The target of analysis are thirteen Imperial-commissioned anthologies which is called "Jyu-Sandai-Shu" from the early Kamakura period to the middle Muromachi period.Since the previous research was “Hachidai-Shu”, we completed the measurement of twenty one Imperial-commissioned anthologies.
We analyzed in the same way as our previous study. We performed a quantitative analysis using morphemes and examined the difference of “Jyu-Sandai-Shu”. We investigated as a method of analysis, using statistical difference of part-of-speech usage rate among “Jyu-Sandai-Shu”, especially seasonal poems and love poems, using the relationship between noun rate and MVR . Then, we tried to discriminate by using the Naïve-Bayes Method which is one of machine learning methods.
Furthermore, since this era is the era of the “Bushi’s Government”, “Bushi’s Waka" are selected more by Imperial-commissioned anthologies. We attempted to analyze the characteristics of “Bushi’s Waka" by principal component analysis method.

"Kojikuen" 1000 volumes can be said to be a representative one-sided classic of Meiji (classical encyclopedia) that embodied modern classical exquisite. This series was completed in 1879 in 1879, spending 36 years from the proposal. The vast database of this series is in the stage when about 20% of the full text database is completed. Other than that, it is being created and released from multiple sites in the form of image, extraction and index. Therefore, to use it, it is necessary to combine each public data, but by doing so, it is possible to analyze the whole picture of "Kojikuen" to some extent. In this presentation, from the characteristics of all the quotations, materials that should also be referred to as "old-school garden" books by editing the textbooks by compilers and authors with their own knowledge Present what it was.

In this study, we quantitatively compare both compositions of R. Schumann's "Kinderszenen" and A.C. Debussy's "Children's Corner" in order to seek their differences in childrenness expressions regard-ing tonal structure. We extracted the frequency of pitch class from 77 musical data as a feature and quantitatively claried the difference between both composers using linear discriminant analysis.

We proposed retrieval methodologies based on usage logs of library OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) for bibliographic information held in a library. The following methodologies were proposed: A) re-ranking methodology based on the frequency of page visits and B) ranking methodology incorporating query keywords within the same session. We applied and evaluated the methodologies using the usage logs recorded at the library OPAC in University of Tsukuba over a period of about 46 months. For the evaluation, we built a set of 16 queries based on the past questions and answers at Kasuga Learning Commons, and assessed the topical relevance for search results of each method by manual. As a result,we showed that both the methods A and B were evaluated better than the baseline (BM25F ranking methodology using bibliographic fields) and the method B was better than the method A.

In recent years, many administrative organizations and local governments are engaged in opening and utilizing open data but until the data utilization has not reached where the government promotes "data can be secondarily used without much manpower being machine-readable". If these open data can be easily converted to RDF format by using common predicates, utilization of open data by linking data is promoted. In this research, we applied an application of automatic generation of predicates using Word2Vec algorithm to convert data disclosed as open data into RDF format. We propose a predicate recommendation method to convert predicates corresponding to item names by using statistical processing called “predicate vector method” which is vectorizing each data item of open data and converting it to RDF format.

In recent years, publishing Linked Open Data (LOD) are promoted, and LOD datasets of various subject areas are provided by many organizations. Links between datasets are important for utilizing them, and how to carry out comprehensive links on the same or related things becomes a problem. Therefore, in this research, we propose applying microtask type crowdsourcing which is being used recently to linking, and develop a method and report the experimental result using sample data.

It is fresh in our memory that the employment situation for newly graduated students worsened immediately after the Leman Shock in September 2008. Even at the present (2017), the environment surrounding the employment of newly graduated students is quite harsh. In addition, recently, the importance of career-oriented education in universities with the grand design in mind is being emphasized. Taking these situations into account, this study designed and conducted a questionnaire survey aiming to extract insights that will assist undergraduates with their job search. This paper discusses the result of the analysis performed on the 114 responses gathered. The particular point of interest is that there was a difference in how the students coped with their job search, and the classes they found useful, depending on the type of occupation they were hired for.

The use of License Plate Recognition Systems (LPR) has proved to be important in the detection of many offences, including locating stolen vehicles, tackling uninsured vehicle use and solving cases of terrorism, major and organized crime. The current existing ALPR solutions in the market are very expensive and require a high level of connectivity which means many developing countries including Tanzania cannot deploy such systems to to limited funds and poor network communication infrastructure. In this paper, the portable LPR implemented on Android is presented as a means of reducing the total cost of acquiring such technology while still offering high standards of image recognition and processing.

Over the years, rural farmers depend on indigenous or local knowledge and information for their daily farming activities. This knowledge and information (indigenous or local) refers to the experience or skills gained through oral tradition and practices that have been passed from generation to generation. This knowledge and information needs ranges from animal and plant disease prevention, planting of treated seeds, fertilizer applications, farm machineries, proper storage of farm products, marketing techniques, co-operative and agro-cultural activities among others. This study attempts to investigate the problems rural farmers face accessing agricultural knowledge and information, it attempts to determine and evaluate the types of information available to farmers. For data collection a self-prepared questionnaire was used and the data analyzed. The findings of the study were used to design and develop an improved ICT solution that would provide farmers with agriculture related information, improve farmers knowledge on current agricultural practices, improve crop production and quality, make market decisions, get access to modern agriculture machines and limit the involvement of middlemen in agricultural trade activities.
