    The influence of the chemical ingredient, contained in natural hot-spring water upon the bactericidal power is not yet enough known.
    I have researched about the number of the bacteria in the river water and the bactericidal power of the river water and of the hot-spring water in Noboribetsu Spa to colibazillen, staphylokokken and to typhusbazillen,
    From my experiments the following have been known.
    1) The acidity of the river water in Noboribetsu Spa is high and generally there are few bacteria in it. Only at the Dainitakimoto the river water contained 780 colonies of bacteria. This is the most numerous bacteria I have experiment.
    2) The bactericidal power to colibacillus, staphylococcus and to typhusbazillen has been obserbed in the river water. But it is not only for pH of the river water;
    3) I have found no bactericidal power in the hot-spring water of salt, and of “Manjuyu”. However in the hot-spring water of “H”, of “Menoyu”, of “Oyunoma”, and of “Vally of Hell”, the intensive bactericidal power to colibazillen, staphylokokken and to typhusbazillen has been found. This bactericidal power is not only for pH of it, but for “SO4-- ions which have been contained i n themselves.
