In this study, molding methods for dissolvable microneedle arrays (for medical and cosmetic applications) were investigated and evaluated. In our experiments, we used biocompatible and biodegradable polymeric materials and fabricated prototypes of needles molded by two different methods: centrifugation and negative pressure. The most accurate forming conditions were determined by comparing the height and shape of the needles after forming under the above conditions. As a result of the experiment, a good shape was formed, and the possibility of practical use was confirmed.

A wireless power supply method for self-propelled capsule endoscopes was studied. Conventional wireless power transfer with a fixed power transmission coil has a problem that the power transfer is interrupted when the capsule moves. Therefore, we studied the possibility of stabilizing the power supply by moving the power transmission coil in X-Y motion according to the increase or decrease of the power supply, and following the capsule. Experiments confirmed the feasibility of this technology. It is possible to reduce the burden of endoscopy on both the patient and the physician, and can also be applied to the power supply to medical devices inside the body for this technology.

The shield tunneling method for tunnel construction is the mainstream underground excavation technology. However, for tunnels a few centimeters in diameter and several tens of centimeters in depth, there is no need to construct a new shield, so a different excavation mechanism is required. In nature, there are organisms that excavate underground on the same scale. Realizing a similar mechanism may enhance tunnel maintenance performance due to dimensional effects. This research aims to analyze the excavation motion of moles and to develop a small underground excavation robot.

Although direct Cu laser processing of build-up substrates using a carbon dioxide laser is widely used, there are few systematic studies that investigate the detailed characteristics of the machined holes. In this study, all lasers were irradiated under the same conditions, and 3D data were obtained by laser microscopy to determine the hole parameters. A method is then developed to derive the distribution of the machined hole parameters and to predict the performance distribution of the substrate by using high-speed video monitoring images.

Grinding conditions affect shape accuracy in ultra-precision grinding. However, due to various reasons, there is an error between the set value of the grinding condition and the actual value.
