In previous study, we developed an injection mold capable of both melt flow control and induction heating, and has demonstrated that the mold is able to prevent weld lines and reduce the deterioration of the appearance and strength of molded products. In this paper, we applied this mold to the forming of short carbon fiber reinforced semi-aromatic polyamide molded products and evaluated how the heating and cooling of the mold and melt flow control, as well as gas vent affects the appearance and mechanical properties of molded products.

In previous study, we proposed a method of improving the appearance of injection molded products by heating the surface of three-dimensional cavity plates, a part of the mold, using far-infrared radiation heater, and has been evaluating the practicality of the method. This paper discusses a new attempt to apply a near-infrared radiation heater capable of heating three-dimensional cavity plates entirely as well as partially in the molding process. When molding was carried out with the temperature of the three-dimensional cavity plate increased from 50℃ to 100℃ using a near-infrared radiation heater, the molding defects such as weld lines could be prevented, and a highly glossy surface could be obtained.

The purpose of this research is to develop an on-machine polishing CAM system based on five-axis machining control using a fiber brush. The polishing process requires skills and the long time to complete smooth surface of die and mold. It’s necessary to reduce the total machining time to condense the polishing time. This research proposes a control method that flat fiber brush is controlled surface normally by using multi-axis control. In this report, we describe the result of a polishing experiment by generating a tool path to polish concave and convex circular surfaces.

We focused on the possibility of obtaining processing characteristics different from those of conventional resin ball grinding stone by fabricating a grinding stone containing water-soluble material in resin balls. Therefore, we tried to develop a grinding wheel for ELID grinding, in which PELID which is a droplet discharge technique was used to fabricate a resin ball containing abrasive grains and a water soluble material and this ball was regarded as abrasive grits of a grindstone. In this report, we report on fabrication results and processing characteristics obtained.

The numerical representation of graphs is useful to visualize, sample, and evaluate the design space of graph-based architectures. Although, the concept of representing graphs by numbers has attracted the attention in recent years, the through computational comparison has been elusive. To fill this gap, in this paper we describe our insights when comparing the computational complexity when converting numbers into graphs and vice versa. We show that the optimization-based approach is efficient and advantageous to scale to large graphs.

We propose a novel plane estimation method for highly corrupted point sets with significant outliers. Our method is based on integrating a sampling strategy of robust regressions into nonlinear optimization of the median covariation matrix. We achieved highly accurate estimation results compared with popular conventional approaches including RANSAC, LMedS, LTS, and MCMPCA.
