This paper reports a Java-based operation support system integrated with a "Large scale database Online Modeling (LOM)" and a blast furnace simulator. The system predicts blast furnace operation by combining the partial unsteady simulator of the physical modeling method and LOM of the local modeling method and supports the operation. To construct the system, the Java-based partial unsteady blast furnace simulator is developed.

In this paper, a driver model which can evaluate performance of obstacle avoidance algorithm is developed. The driving data is collected by a small-scale traffic stream simulator using CarSim. Hybrid modeling is applied to construct the drive model. It is shown that the developed driver model can simulate driver's avoidance behavior through numerical simulations.

A power assist system for an omni-directional wheelchair is developed considering operability. Operability is improved by using fuzzy rules that must be tuned in order to respond to each attendant's characteristics. A neuro-fuzzy system (ANFIS) in which membership functions are tuned by using input data of attendants, is applied.

The public pension system in Japan is bringing about intergenerational inequity in contribution / benefit ratio. In this paper, we propose a optimal planing of public pension systems under Generation-based Operation (GO) model and simulate a financial process in proposed method. Proposed method is robust for various disturbances. In society with a decreasing population, the robustness to changes in population is especially useful.

We study about the speech visualization system "KanNon" which supports deaf people's life. To realize speech visualization, the real-time phoneme and syllable level speech recognition system is needed. So we developed the speech recognition systems for speech/silence, voiced/unvoiced and Japanese 5 vowels recognition using neural networks. Finally we show experimental results of our proposed system.

This presentation describes a structure of a robotic program to apply acquired regularities in a sequence. The regularities are acquired by the program, and represented in segments consisting of sensor values and motion instructions. The program, given inputs, uses regularities and calculates where a target is possibly moving before it reaches there.

This paper proposes a control method for a 2-soft-fingered robot hand to grasp and manipulate objects stably and presents experimental results to show the validity of the proposed method. The method not only keeps positional stability of manipulation using a position based control but also controls fingertip contact force with reasonable accuracy taking the elasticity of the soft skin of the fingers into consideration.

In this paper, we are concerned with optimization of the observations for the discrete-time Kalman filter. That is, we consider the problem of determining the observation gain matrix in such a way that the esimation error is minimized. Based on a generailzed Water Filling Theorem which was shown recently, we formulate and solve the problem as a local optimization in time.
