Vibration-proof rubbers are widely used as spring elements. In order to study the characteristics of vibration-proof rubbers, the free vibration of a mass-rubber system is observed. The observed records of the vibrations seem to result from the combination of creep motions and damped vibrations. The two-element model of the rubber which is known as Voigt model is proved not to explain well the observed phenomena. It is found instead that the four-element model which consists of two springs and two dampers can explain better the observed phenomena.

Cal. 5T and 7T series are the multi-function analogue quartz timepieces whose movement can be widely applied to chronograph, alarm, timer, worldtime display, and so on. This can be realized by the development of the CPU-IC, the birotational stepping motor, and the compact and widely useful mechanism. Not only the movement size, but also the operational easiness, legibility, and the repairability are much improved as compared with the conventional multi-function watches. This paper describes the system constructions and the mechanism of the Cal. 5T and 7T series.

Ceramic coating techniques by means of dry coating process have been used widely, as the dry coating process is superior to the wet coating process in the color variation, wear-proof, hardness, and corrosion-resistance of the coated surface. However, it is not yet satis factory on the tone and color variation of the surface. In the present paper, some investigations are made in order to improve the tone and color variation on the exterior parts of clocks and watches. 1) Paying attention to the application of ceramic coating interferance film which has been little used so far, an investigation is made on the optimum thickness of the interferance film for brighter. tone and wider color variation, in order to put this to practical use. 2) Titanium nitride coating film formed by sputtering has a defect that the surface is rather dark in tone. To improve this tone, application of reactive sputtering with titanium and additional tantalum is tried. Conditions of the optimum quantity of the tantalum to be added are examined, in order to get brighter tone.
