This paper describes torsional mode quartz crystal resonators of a tuning forktype which are easily formed by an etching process. The objects of this paper are to clarify resonant frequency and frequency temperature behavior of the resonators using Ritz method, and also to provide miniaturized torsional resonators with a small series resistance R_1 and a high quality factor. A torsional rigidity is first derived theoretically, a series of analysis results are then compared with the measured data. As a results, both results are in good agreement, and a miniaturized resonator is found to be successfully obtained with a small series resistance R_1 and a high quality factor particularly in the vicinity of 500kHz.

From the viewpoint of a micro energy flow, the microsystems design method is investigated for the microactuators and sensors. A simple microsystem is developed as our model, which is excited photothermally by the light from high power laser diode. The exciting point to vibrate a cantilever at maximum amplitude is obtained near the clamped position, which means the maximum efficiency of energy transmission. The energy dissipation characteristics of the cantilever is analytically evaluated. The quantities of dissipation caused by airflow force, internal friction and support loss are calculated and comparedith with experimental results. As a results, micro energy input position and the relationship between microbeam size and dissipation ratio are evaluated, which makes progress in a design method of the microsystems excited by a wireless energy supply.

The"CASIO SUPER CYBER CROSS(JG-200)"is an infrared (IR) communication digital watch for children. In addition to watch, alarm and stopwatch function, it has apparatus for short message, game playable alone or with another watch, and TV remote controller. Its communication distance is within 5 meters and the angle is ±15゜. It also is provided with a removable quaking booster, which operates at alarm time, in game and when recieving data. This paper describes the outline of the spesification, IR communicate protocol, and the major components of the watch.

Among the energy systems driving today's quartz watches, there is a system containing a miniature generator which is driven by the daily movement of the wear's arm to generate electric power. We call this an Automatic Generating System(AGS). This paper describes the AGS technology developed on these compact movements. The characteristics, the outlook of the AGS and the new generator for quartz watches are explained here.

C-MOS Op. Amp ICs, AOP775 and AOP777(tentative names), with rail-to-rail input and output voltage ranges which can operate by single voltage power supply are presented here. AOP775 is drived by 1.5V single power supply in low frequency ranges, and AOP777 is drived by 3. OV single power supply in middle ferquency ranges. AOP775 and AOP777 achieve rail-to-rail input voltage ranges, a low power consumption, single power supply, a low current consumption and a low input offset voltage. Besides, they make possible a low voltage supply of systematic equipment, improvement of dynamic ranges of a low voltage power supply circuit and battery power supply. These Op. Amp ICs are indispensable for the progress of a low voltage supply for digital analog mixture circuit and analog circuit.

Usual SOLOR CELL has dark surface, because of it's low reflectivity. For the improvement of the surface look, a coloring technology of SOLOR CELL, by use of optical multilayer thin films, and optical path controll sheet, is discussed in this paper.
