This paper investigated on changes of the surface EMG according to miniaturization of the electrodes (6mmφ, 4mmφ, 2mmφ) and the difference between monopolar and bipolar derivation of EMG during the mastication using these small size electrodes.

    The findings were as follows:

    1. 4mmφ size electrode was proper to get balanced EMG.

    2. In order ot achieve these ends as effectively, the electrode was improved an indirect floating type (Fig.1).

3.There is no change in accurately at monopolar derivation compared with bipolar derivation.

The purpose of this study is to survey concerning the frequencies and pathogenic factors of malocclusion on 2325 children (1202 boys and 1123 girls) to live in Yahaba district, Iwate prefecture.

Results of the examination were as follows:

    1) Frequencies of normal occlusion were 41.2%, and malocclusion were 58.8%, especially, the crowding appeared at the highest (23.9%) among these malocclusion.

    2) Frequencies of crowding increased transiently at the stage of the eruption of permanent incisors, thereafter once decreased, this recured increasing due to the eruption of buccal teeth and second molars.

    3) Frequencies of maxillary protrusion increased through dental age Ⅱ C to ⅢB, from at this time these malocclusions appeared to fix the abnormalized shape and size.

    4) Frequencies of reversed occlusion showed a maximum at the stage of the eruption of permanent incisors, but after these stage, the frequencies decreased.

    5) The complete eruption of four second molars appeared at high rate in normal occlusion rather than malocclusion (P<0.05).

In the reversed occlusion, the eruption of lower second molars showed significantly (P<0.01) high rate compared with upper one.

The fear and anxiety related to painful dental procedures almost prevent dental patients from seeking and receiving adequate dental treatment.

So to relief the fear and anxiety, Comperative study was performed for the effects on intravenous injection of diazepam and inhalation of 30% N2O-O2 with 23 patients.

The results were summarized as follows.

    1) The mean systolic blood pressure in the intravenous sedation was 8.7mmHg lower than that of 30% N2O-O2 inhalation. No significant change was obserbed in respiration, blood pressure and puls.

    2) The patients who received intravenous sedation was taken four and a half times longer than that of 30% N2O-O2 inhalation to be able to go home.

    3) Both sedation method showed good sedation, relaxation and minimal side effects.

    4) 15patients received intravenous sedation and 13 patients wished the same method in future dental treatment. 8 patients received 30% N2O-O2 inhalation and 7 patients wished the same method in future dental treatment.
