In this article, I will introduce project management not from the viewpoint of the information system developers, but from the viewpoint of the users. First, I will describe the history and the outline of the project management, and the process from the start-up to the completion of a project. Second, I will illustrate the failures that an IT project tends to fall into along with the causes, and explore some ways of leading the projects to success.

In July 2000, an Information Center for Pfizer Japan headquarters users, Tokyo Medical Information Center (hereinafter TMIC), was established in Pfizer Pharmaceutical Inc. (Japan). We renovated TMIC floor with TMIC Concept, "Non-traditional Library", "More User Friendly", "Information Exchange Place", and has been enhancing TMIC services as "Knowledge Support Center". In this : article, I would like to introduce "Why we need an Information Center" and "How we made a Knowledge Support Center".

Society as a whole has been moving into a fast-developing Electronic Age along with the sophisticated information technology. In this light, questions have risen as to the suitability of the conventional methods of education, and reforms have become necessary. Universities thus face the obligation to train skilled people to serve society. To meet this new need, Nagoya Women's University merged its library and existing Information Science Center into the Library and Science Information Center in 2002. In this report, we present (1) the activity of the committee set up to make the necessary preparation to integrate the two merged bodies, (2) the organization of the Library and Science Information Center, (3) the services provided, and (4) the forthcoming plans.

Education programs of library users aim to promoting active utilization of materials and services provided in libraries. In addition to this aim, they are important to provide opportunities for librarians to review and improve their own works as well. In order to proceed planning and practice of the programs, difficult but important is to share the understanding of importance and significance of the programs among librarians. Here, we show three cases that have been planned and practiced in Kyoto University, two of which are up to date. We hope this article will be useful to librarians who have and will have similar plans.
