In recent years, the development of grippers for the precise assembly of small objects has become increasingly important. Techniques for classifying microfossils by combining image analysis and machine learning with microgrippers have also been developed. In this laboratory, we have developed a gripper that uses the adhesion force of droplets (capillary force). We can pick up and array very small complex-shaped and fragile objects without damaging them by using capillary force. In this study, we develop a gripper that can automatically control droplet volume. I will pick up and place small objects of various sizes and shapes with this gripper. The mechanism to emit droplets and the program to detect droplets have been completed. In the future, I will develop a feedback control program to measure the droplet volume and conduct pick up-and-place experiments.

The Nominal Characteristic Following (NCTF) control has been proposed as a control method for precision control that can be easily designed without detailed models. Its effectiveness has been verified and improvements have been made. Although many control elements in the NCTF control system can be determined using simple procedures, only the adjustment of the PI compensator required the judgment of the designer. To solve this remaining issue, a disturbance estimator is designed using a learning controller, and the result of incorporating it into the NCTF control system is reported.

The 'Half-Moon Single Blade' used in the 'Akasaka-style Half-Moon Engraving Method' is a handmade tool sharpened by craftsmen since before World War II.Unlike modern endmills, it possesses unique characteristics and performance, enabling 'delicate and precise' cutting processes. It is akin to a Japanese sword in industrial manufacturing.In a world where highly sophisticated modern precision machining is achieved through mechanization and systematization, why does such a 'handmade blade' sometimes surpass contemporary end mills? In this presentation, we aim to demonstrate the superiority of the 'Half-Moon Single Blade' crafted by the 'Hand of God' of skilled artisans.

We develop an alignment monitor which can work in a severe environment of high magnetic field and vacuum highly stably for long term. It consists of absolute distance interferometers, which use pulse intervals as a scale reference with their intervals from several 10 to around 100 mm. They are generated from an optical frequency comb transmitting through a fiber etalon, which consists of a single mode optical fiber. Here, we evaluate effects of the etalon by comparing to the results using a mechanically stable gap etalon.

The direct measurement of interaction force between two solid surfaces is capable by using Friction Force Microscope (FFM). The friction force between both surfaces of a silicon tip and a smooth silicon flat are measured, using the Frictional Curve (FC). The friction curve was measured by varying the normal load within the range of 1nN to 10µN. The result showed that it is found by measuring the frictional curve that the frictional force changes depending on the normal load and the frictional force was larger than the macroscopic frictional force when the range of load was less than about 4µN. And influence of relative humidity on micro tip adsorption is investigated.
