In surface plunge grinding, efficient wet grinding was achieved with a small amount of coolant, where the flexible brush coolant nozzle was placed in contact with the wheel surface to apply a fluid film to the wheel surface. The effectiveness of the brush-nozzle was evaluated mainly by the grinding temperature measured by the thermocouple method. This brush-nozzle has the almost same cooling effect s that of normal wet grinding even when the supply of coolant was reduced to 0.25 L/min.

In recent years,low-cost thermopile array sensors have become widely used for purposes such as human detection and body temperature measurement.In this study, we aim to develop a system utilizing these sensors to monitor the rapid increase in ambient temperature around the grinding wheel during cylindrical grinding processes caused by process abnormalities.This system will notify operators of these abnormalities while optimizing the machining conditions.
