We focused on near point distance as a metrics of eye fatigue at reading task for the purpose of getting an objective scale for seeking readable Electronic Paper. Near point distance can be measured both procedures by approaching and by extending a target mark, which is tried to be focused by subjects. Correlation between the increase of the near point distance and subjective answers were evaluated in reading tasks of 120 minutes by using each procedure of the near point measurements. The approaching procedure of the near point measurement showed superior correlation coefficient : it was regarded as an enough value for using a quantitative index of eye fatigue. This approaching method was then applied for measurements of eye fatigue with reading task of 270 minutes on various mediums : paper, electronic paper (book reader using electrophoretic display), and conventional display (LCD). Measured results of near point distance showed increase only for LCD. No increase of the near point distance was shown for electronic paper and paper. These results suggest that the electronic paper used in this study is superior than conventional display with regards to avoiding fatigue in reading tasks

The static charging theories analyzing the relation between the charge-to-mass ratio and the mixing ratio of toner-to-carrier in the two-component developer were reexamined. This study showed that the conventional contact electric field theories were deduced from the surface state theory in the limited case that the surface state densities of toner and carrier are exactly equal to each other. In our improved modeling, the dielectric constants of toner and carrier correspond to those of the surface state densities, respectively. As a result, our improved contact electric field theory was almost consistent with the surface state theory.
In addition, the saturated toner charge-to-mass ratio deduced by the surface state theory was consistent with the result of the kinetic tribocharging theory. This study also suggested that the surface state theory can be developed to the kinetic tribocharging theory.

The age to stick to only the color image engineering has past. We will focus on a new field which is basically reconsidered based on “deep sensation" not merely engineering nor literature. We focus on the sensation, contents and environment focusing to inside of human and instinct. We must reconsider the traditional engineering, and will make research and development aiming obstruct products and works. Our work will develop based on Japanese sentiments culture aiming the foundation of a new culture. Then, we will find a true color image technology.

The development method of a new product with a luxury image and a high quality image attracts attention now. Then, the following is explained. 1, What are a luxury image, and a high quality mage? 2, The regional difference of a luxury image, and a high quality image. 3, The kansei engineering technique for developing a new product and new material with a luxury image and a high quality image. 4, A new product, a new material development example with the luxury image which uses the kansei engineering technique, and a high quality image.

It explains the method of analysis to catch an impression of the picture or the commodity objectively. First of all, The Web site designs are classified by not contents but emotional impressions. Next, it explains the image analysis using “Color image scale” developed based on color psychology. Image scale is a method of the interchangeability between the color and the image word, and also can be applied to the design, shapes and materials, etc. other than the color. It is a sensibility evaluation map. It's also described the relation between color design and sensibility and the relation between senses and the color image.

This paper introduces a basic concept of computational modeling of perception processes for image media data. Such processes are modeled as hierarchical inter-and intra-relationships amongst information in physical, physiological, psychological and cognitive layers in perception. Based on our framework, this paper introduces some algorithms for content-based image media retrieval for advanced image media services. This paper also discusses consensus building in collaborative creative work using image media.
