Visualization of 1MHz burst sine and pulsed ultrasonic wave propagation in the glass by using strobe photoelastic system introducing the sensitive tint method is carried out to improve the understanding of the sound field. Acoustic field data obtained by the system was captured by the CMOS camera and they were processed with integration, subtraction and normalization to enhance the S/N and contrast of the images. As the result, ultrasonic propagation of wavefront is clearly visualized in the low level excitation. Moreover, sign of positive and negative of ultrasonic sound pressure can be successfully identified in red and green, respectively.

We have succeeded to make paper sheets integrating hollow Kapok fibers containing solid fluorescence particles or magnetic particles. The focus of this work is to develop a novel paper sheet which integrates Kapok fibers containing thermo-sensitive inks. We utilized a thermo-sensitive ink which exhibits blue color under 40°C and pink color over 40°C. We have succeeded to make Kapok fibers containing the thermo-sensitive ink and paper sheet integrating the Kapok fibers. The paper sheet which integrates Kapok fibers containing thermo-sensitive inks changed its color reversibly depending on temperature. This observation suggests that the paper sheet utilizing Kapok fibers has the potential for rewritable paper sheet.

A long time has passed since the global warming, which is caused by greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), started to be apprehended. A decade ago, saving power is the “eco” action and all manufacturers compete each other to have the lowest power consumption. However, in the international framework, saving power is just a part of the action. It is necessary to consider one product's environmental burden through its life time. Multi Function Peripheral (MFP) or printers consume paper. It is well known that paper has a large Carbon Foot Print (CFP) from its enormous energy consumption through production process. Toshiba Tec Corporation believes that it has a sustainable value to lessen this CFP, and in 2013, released the MFP with the erasable toner to reuse the paper. This paper reusing system is called “Loops”. In this article, I would like to explain the technology behind “Loops”. (Loops is the registered trademark in Japan of Toshiba Tec corporation.)

The ApeosPort-V series was developed by Fuji Xerox as its core products for office use. While providing a wide range of copying and printing speeds from 20 to 70 sheets per minute, the products also focus on the concept of RealGreen, which is further improved on this series. Employment of our unique human detection sensor technology, Smart WelcomEyes, which has already been adopted for the predecessor model, helped us to achieve a comfortable yet eco-friendly environment made possible by two additional cameras : the human detection and the face recognition cameras. In addition to this, our analyses have clarified how heat and sound is generated and transmitted, enabling a design that realizes quieter devices and satisfies both environmental performance and convenience for customers at an even higher level. This paper details two newly adopted technologies : the Smart WelcomEyes Advance technology introduced into the ApeosPort-V series and the noise reduction technology.
