The Illumination Promoting Division has been involved in various activities with a mission to promulgate illumination-related knowledge and achieve developments of facilities, and celebrated fiftieth anniversary in November of the year 2007. This article briefly describes the three cornerstones of the Illumination Promoting Division (publications, Illumination Promoting Award, AKARI NO HI), and looks back the history of fifty years, in units of each decade.
We introduced significance and the summary of three keys (the Illumination-Related Publication, Prize for Illumination Spread Commendation, the Day of the Light) for illumination spread promotion. We administered it as a national body. At first we introduced the name and a purpose of the main publication which the promoting Division published. Next, The promoting Division commended a superior illumination institution of each age completion as a prize for illumination spread In Japan. We established October 21 with "the Day of the Light". We distribute a leaflet in a street on this day and suggest the energy saving of the residence for the prevention of global warming. We hope this leaflet to anyone at hand, and to inflect. And we commented on efficient lighting equipment or illumination technique in this leaflet in detail.
The purpose of this paper is to trace the development of office lighting from 1960 to the present. Particularly, the development of lighting system to conserve energy and the improvement of lighting quality in an office space for the past 50 years have been discussed.
Along the tide of the times, Japanese urban scenes have gone through a great change. This article gives a general view on the trends and the roles of night scenes in the last five decades, in the background of the history. The article also investigates the trends in illumination technologies, luminaires and light sources of each type of main elements of a city.
The conference of 6th Lux Pacifica was held on April 23-25 2009 at Bangkok in Thailand. This report shows the outline of the conference. The total number of participants was 83 and the one of Japan was 35. The total number of papers in the proceedings was 61 and the one of Japan was 24. Japan had the most number in all the countries joined. Japan is a country that emits a lot of information about research and technology of lighting in Pacific Rim countries. Japan has the leadership in the quantity of paper presentations. The International Organization Committee of Lux Pacifica decided that Thailand would hold the conference of 7th Lux Pacifica in 2013.
