This paper presents the mathematical simulation technique to verify ship manoeuvres for VLCC during the berth approach under current. For example, authors tried to clarify whether the 230, 000-dwt tanker is able to manoeuvre easily at 2/3 loaded draught, which is equal to the full loaded draught of the 100, 000-dwt tanker, on a given course line entering Bannosu Sea-berth in Bisan Seto where was passed by the 100, 000-dwt tanker. In this paper, the manoeuvring capabilities are first described, which were got from the regression analysis on results of full-scale test of VLCC, and then the simulation process is explained, where the input data used for the simulation contains the results of the full-scale test on the turning, reverse stopping and Z-manoeuvres of the 230, 000-dwt tanker at the 2/3 loaded draught.
