In JIS Z 8726 (Method of Specifying Color Rendering Properties of Light Sources) the color chips for calculating color rendering indexes are established. But there are not determined with consideration of printing inks. So in this paper we report that the evaluation by the color chips which are already established are compared with those by the testing chips which are printed with printing inks, and that these relations mentioned above are studied with pure calculative method. And it is investigated how there evaluations of color rendering indexes are changed by printing ink sets, the kind of papers and so on.
It is found that the testing chips which are printed by Yellow, Magenta Green and Red of printing inks can be respectively used as substitute for No. 10, No. 9, No. 11 and No. 9 of the color chips, but the testing chips which are printed by Cyan and Blue-Violet can not be used as substitute for any appropriate color chips. Therefore it is necessary to use the color chips of Cyan and Blue-Violet for evaluation of color rendering indexes of printed matters, not which are already established but which are printed by actual printing inks. Specially with respect of Blue-Violet it is desirable to use the color chips which are printed by actual printing inks, because color rendering indexes are large fluctuated by the kind of printing inks.
