    The measure which manufactures high quality recycled aggregate from the concrete block produced at the time of building demolition is taken. In this process, the waste concrete fine powder (WCFP) is produced in large quantities. However WCFP does not have the available usage. In this study, we first made the process which divides WCFP into SiO2 and CaCO3. Next, from a viewpoint of processing efficiency, we optimized acid concentration, the balance of WCFP and dissolution time.

    Test age and curing method of specimen for manufacturing control of high strength concrete were investigated and following results were obtained. 1) The strength correction value of high strength concrete is small in the order of Ordinary portland cement > Moderate heat portland cement > Low heat portland cement. Moreover, it was necessary to set test age of high strength concrete using Moderate heat portland cement and Low heat portland cement on the day after the 28th. 2) In the case to use portland cement, if strength test is set within 91 days, the strength correction value doesn't reach a big negative value. 3) In the case of binder water ratio is six to seven, even if strength test is set within 91 days, the strength correction value reaches a big negative value. 4) Also in the case with 3), reasonable manufacturing control can be done by the hot water cured specimen.

    Construction sealant is the material to maintain the waterproof and airtight functions, and it's function depends on adhesive property, movement capability and weatherability. Testing methods of adhesive property and movement capability are standardized, but the weatherability is not established. Though the construction sealants are influenced by weathering from static to dynamic conditions, many studies of sealant for the weatherability is evaluated on static condition. Factors of sealant weatherability are compounded from degradation on static condition, effect of joint dynamic transformation and climate of region. Our purpose in this study is to demonstrate the quantitative effect of dynamic transformation including regional factors for the weatherability of sealants by using newly devised testing method.

    This paper reports the results of outdoor exposure test on the repair performance on corrosion of reinforcing bar in salt containing concrete by various repairing materials. When there is much chlorination amount of material in the concrete, effect on repression of the reinforcing bars corrosion by the repair method of construction can't be expected very much. When the repair of the section repair part is done, that countermeasure is important from showing a tendency of progressing in the part of the boundary remarkably as for the reinforcing bars corrosion after the repair.
    If chipping isn't taken to the back of the reinforcing bars, the effect of rust is prevented material, section repair material, the surface covering material can't be expected any more in the case of the section repair.

    In official regulations, fire retardant / resistant property is defined as the performance required in the parts of the structure involved in preventing the structure from collapsing, and the fire from spreading until the time the fire ends, in case of an ordinary fire. Nothing is said, however, about such matters as the reuse of building materials after a fire. From the standpoint of the maintenance of ALC-buildings and management, the ability of ALC panel to be reused after being subjected to fire is likely to become an important issue.     This paper describes a stochastic method for simulating external pressure fields and internal pressures in a low-rise building model in a turbulence boundary layer. The external wind pressure fields on the building model are simulated using a stochastic method that combines the advantages of both translation vector processes and a vector autoregressive (VAR) model for representing stationary Gaussian stochastic vector processes. The internal pressures in the building model are simulated using both the simulated external wind pressure fields and a numerical model for flow paths through the building envelope. Also, the internal pressures are measured in a wind tunnel experiment with a building model having leaky apertures. Results of this study demonstrate that the internal pressures in the low-rise building model can be simulated using both the external wind pressure fields, which are simulated by the stochastic method, and the numerical model for the flow paths through the envelope.

    The seismic performance of building equipments as well as building frames is one of critical factors to maintain the function of buildings after the occurrence of earthquakes. Therefore, the damage database of building equipments due to 1995 Hyogoken Nanbu earthquake is investigated to evaluate the seismic performance of building equipments from the statistical point. The damage occurrence is modeled by the binomial distribution, and the damage ratio curves, the shape of which is assumed to be the lognormal distribution, are calculated through the maximum likelihood method. It is evaluated that the differences of the building year, the structural type and the building story influence on the median of damage ratio curves. Moreover, the damage ratio curves are evaluated through the response acceleration and the response story deformation angle in order to compare the build code of equipments.

    This paper discusses an analytical method for estimating wind pressures under roof tiles induced by the interaction between internal pressures and external pressures. First, internal pressures on roof models, whose internal volume and gaps have values equivalent to those of a real roof tile, were measured in wind tunnel tests. Next, the internal pressures were estimated analytically by applying a non-steady Bernoulli equation to the flow through the gap. The validity of the analytical method was examined by comparison with results of the wind tunnel tests. Finally, internal pressures on a whole roof were deduced from simultaneous external pressures through a roof, obtained from a wind tunnel test for a low-rise building with a gable roof, using the analytical method.

    Fault models of the 1938 Shioyazaki-oki earthquakes, event 1 (May 23) and event 2 and 3 (Nov. 5), are characterized using the slip distributions on the fault plane by waveform inversion analysis. Stress parameters of each asperity Δσa are estimated as 37MPa for event 1 and 22MPa for event 2 and 3 from empirical Green's function method (EGFM) by simulating the seismic intensity of JMA observation stations which locate in near fault region. Short-period spectral level of event 1 is higher than those of event 2 and 3 which are as high as that of the 1978 Miyagi-ken-oki earthquake. The spatial distribution of seismic intensity 5 for each event is well reproduced by EGFM using the proposed fault model in this study.

    A new approach integration heuristics and nonlinear programming is proposed for topology optimization of discrete structures under stress and local buckling constraints. In the approach, the optimal ground structures are searched by heuristics, and topology optimization is performed for each ground structure based on nonlinear programming. Two heuristics are applied; namely, tabu search, and a new heuristic method called topology mining, which is based on the apriori algorithm. Three numerical examples are solved to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Moreover, the efficiency in view of computational cost of the two heuristics is discussed by comparing the optimization results.

    In this paper, a ground structure approach for computational morphogenesis of building structure is shown. In this method, it is difficult to obtain exact solutions by general non-linear programming methods when the members of ground structure increase. In this paper, some examples that the solution dose not converge to exact solution are shown, and a method for solving this problem is proposed. In the proposed method, SLP or CONLIN method is used as solver of the optimization problem. Several numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Also, it is shown that this method can be used for computational morphogenesis of building structure.

    Soil cement wall construction works for earth retaining wall bring about a huge quantity of construction sludge. In order to reduce the construction sludge, the reducing method of cement slurry injection volume using fluidizing agent in cement milk was developed. In this paper, outline and characteristic of the agent, the performance of the agent in laboratory tests, and the efficacy of reducing method with the agent in field construction tests are presented.

    Seismic response of cylindrical lattice shell roofs with supporting substructures is known to be amplified in vertical direction even under horizontal input, and their amplitude changes along the direction of earthquake motion. However, the seismic response behavior under the inputs in arbitrary direction has not been sufficiently investigated. In this paper, seismic vibration tests are carried out using small scale models with supporting substructure in order to make clear the effects of difference of input direction and relationship between mechanical properties of roofs and substructures on response behavior of shell roofs. It is confirmed that the simple response evaluation methods proposed in previous papers apply to the responses subjected to earthquake motions with arbitrary direction.

    In this paper, simple equations for the required lateral load carrying capacity of reinforced concrete buildings using the equivalent linearization method and the equal energy concept which is used in the calculation of lateral load carrying capacity of the current seismic regulations are shown based on two bi-linear restoring force models with the constant initial stiffness and the constant yield deformation. Then, comparisons of the two methods and the two bi-linear restoring force models are conducted. As a result, it is concluded that the method based on the bi-linear restoring force model with the constant yield deformation is rational and effective for the required lateral load carrying capacity of the buildings with ductile moment-resisting frames.

    This study is intended to get an answer to the question that the adding of side walls to old RC columns is effective to enhance their seismic performance or not. For this purpose, ten half-scale model specimens simulating columns designed by the pre-1971 codes with/without side walls were tested until they collapsed. The tests revealed the side-wall adding increased lateral strength but decreased deformability. Then the earthquake response analyses were conducted for three-story model buildings consisting of the tested columns with/without side walls, where the observed load-deflection relations until collapse were used. The side-wall adding was judged as “advantageous” if the ratio of maximum response drift to drift at collapse became smaller than that of the case without side walls. The side-wall adding was “advantageous” in most examples.

    This study aims to evaluate elastic member buckling of slender columns in the multi-bay multi-story frame by the theoretical analysis. In consideration of the lateral restraint by other members of the frame, a buckling equation of the slender column is derived with the buckling slope-deflection method,and the relation between the lateral bracing stiffness and the effective length is investigated. Furthermore, lateral bracing stiffness and lateral bracing strength when the effective length of the slender column is equivalent to the one in non-sway buckling are calculated and are shown in figures.

    Transverse beams connected with reinforced concrete slabs might be helpful for structural systems to endure earthquake and to keep the stability after complete failure of the longitudinal beams. To investigate the behavior of the connections between transverse beams and floor slabs, three torsional tests of a transverse beam connected to a concrete slab with studs were performed. It was observed that the behaviors of the connections are different according to the location of the slab and the direction of the torsional rotation. These behaviors were also observed in finite element analyses (FEA), and the load-deformation relationships and crack locations obtained by the FEA agreed with the test results. To predict the ultimate strength, a simple mathematical model were proposed and validated using the FEA and test results. It was shown that this model could predict the bending moment in the slab and the axial force in the studs. This model can be used to estimate the failure mode and the maximum strength of the model by defining the maximum bending moment of the slab and the maximum axial force of the stud.

    The majority of experimental studies on damage-controlled structures have tested isolated dampers or simple subassemblages which neglect the influence of the framing components and the gusset-plate on the system performance. In the paper, cyclic loading tests of six frame subassemblages with the gusset-plate connection to investigate effects of the presence of the gusset-plate on structural behavior of the beam. The gusset-plate led to increase in initial elastic stiffness and yield strength of the beam. Meanwhile, damage to beam-column joint panel subjected to high shear stress was decreased by the gusset-plate. Finally, based on the cyclic loading tests of the beam with the gusset-plate connection, the simplified analysis model considering the gusset-plate working as a knee brace was proposed.

    Authors have proposed High tension bolted friction slip damper with higher friction coefficients than conventional ones, so the dynamic loading tests have conducted by using the bolted friction slip connection specimens that sandwiched aluminum alloy sliding plates. In addition, for stabilization of frictional slipping behavior, specimens were also sandwiched by rubber washers. The purpose of this study is a proposal of new hybrid friction damper, which absorbs the vibration energy on both wind load and seismic load. In this paper, in order to describe the charcteristics of this damper, dainamic loading tests were conducted and an anlysis model of the damper was also proposed.
