Both translation of ERIC descriptors into Japanese and selection of the descriptors for educational technology from them were performed, to effectively give information about its research activity in Japan to non-Japanese speakers via computer information retrieval. Use of ERIC descriptors was proposed from the following two points. The first is that most of the terms used in Japan correspond with those in America ; the second is that the selected terms result in utilizing an authorized thesaurus. Translating and selecting strategies were described. Finally, English-Japanese and Japanese-English tables were presented.
