As shown in the previous paper, a linear analysis of the strain distributions in filamentwound pressure vessels by use of the finite element method can explain the experimental results in the initial stage of pressure loading. However, it was found that the experimental pressure versus strain curves on some dome portions became nonlinear with an increase of internal pressure and it seemed to result from the variation of dome configuration. Accordingly, in the present paper, the stress and strain analyses in filament-wound pressure vessels are treated as an geometrically large deflection problem by using the modified load incremental method. And it is shown that the numerical results for a rocket moter case (EXOS-KM-B) which is to be launched by Inst, of Space & Aeronaut. Sci., Univ. of Tokyo, agree fairly with the experimental results.
