In a previous study, a multi-camera system was constructed to operate home appliances using only gestures. However, this system required time for the user to become accustomed to its operation. In this paper, we propose a system that visualizes and further enhances the previous system by using Mixed-Reality Goggles to visualize and control the command spaces. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the usefulness of the proposed system, and it was confirmed that the system was useful to acclaimatize operation methods.

It is difficult for skiers to detect danger when other approaching skiers are in their blind spot. In this paper, we propose an image-based system that detects danger in all directions via a helmet-mounted 360-degree camera. Other skiers are detected using YOLO and the risk is judged based on the distance at which they are present. We also detect danger by using a bird's eye view to estimate skiing direction.

In the medical field, there is a need for more efficient management of surgical instruments in preparation for the increase in the number of surgeries due to the arrival of a super-aging society. In this study, we propose a method to count surgical instruments before and after surgery using an RGB-D camera. The proposed method uses an RGB-D camera to generate an ortho-image of a surgical instruments, detects the surgical instruments using Faster R-CNN, and then performs identification based on dimensional information.

This research introduces a method for completing point clouds derived from 2D sonar images utilizing the Point Cloud Transformer with Morphing Atlas-based Point Generation Network (PCTMA-Net), initially developed for noise-free point clouds. The research thus centres on evaluating how effectively this network can adapt to and process the additional complexity introduced by sonar noise. The study evaluates PCTMA-Net's effectiveness in adapting to sonar noise, interpolating missing regions, and enhancing 3D reconstruction accuracy. This is crucial for applications requiring precise 3D models from limited 2D sonar imaging. The study uses a Blender-generated and real sonar image dataset with different noise levels. It compares a model with pre-trained weights and one whose hyperparameters are tuned to noisy point cloud conditions. This setup investigates the network's adaptability to different noise levels and data irregularities typical in underwater imaging. The goal is to explore PCTMA-Net's noise-handling capabilities and potential improvements for sonar-based 3D completion and refining tasks.

Tensile tests, hardness tests, microstructural observations, and fracture surface observations were conducted on Inconel 625 sintered products produced using a metal 3D printer. The relative density of the sintered material was about 97%. Observation of the fracture surface after the tensile test revealed that the pores generated inside the sintered material were the starting point of fracture. It was suggested that pores may influence strength and elongation. Furthermore, a tensile test was conducted using test pieces formed by changing the scanning direction to confirm the presence or absence of anisotropy.

Recently, metal-plastic hybrid joining technology is becoming very attractive in the automotive industry because it contributes to structural light-weighting and decarbonization of society. For metals and plastics with obviously different properties, it is necessary to perform surface pretreatment to promote hybrid joining. Galvanized high-strength steel (GHSS) has been widely used in the car body because of its excellent anti-corrosion properties and mechanical performance. Hot water treatment (HWT) is a simple and eco-friendly process in which metal substrates are immersed in hot deionized (DI) water, generating nanostructures and changing the chemical condition of the metal surface through oxidation and 'plugging' mechanisms. In this study, the effects of HWT at different pH and temperatures on the GHSS surface condition were explored. Zinc oxides and hydroxides with different amounts were generated on the surface to promote surface anchoring effects and hydrogen bonding. In conclusion, the anchoring effect produced by the oxide needle-like structures is considered to be a major factor in promoting joining. High-ph environments were found to inhibit the full growth of oxide needle-like structures. The presence of hydroxide had the potential to promote hydrogen bonding, but defects induced by its dehydration decomposition were found to be one of the unfavorable factors.

For the purpose of high efficiency polishing of diamond substrates, which are hard and fragile materials, we have developed fullerene C60 composite polishing fine particles. As a result of applying the developed fine particles to the polishing of the diamond substrate, it was confirmed that the material removal rate was improved and the surface roughness of the polished surface was reduced. In addition, a carbon allotrope different from fullerene C60 was confirmed in the process of making fine particles. In this talk, we will report on the outline of the developed fine particles and the polishing results.
