    The blast furnace plant at the Showa Steel Works is inherited on the 1st. June, 1933. from the Anzan Iron Works, which was formerly belonged to the South Manchuria Railway Company.
    The first campaign of the No. 1 furnace was biown in on the 29th. April 1919. At present we are operating 3 furnaces, No. 1, 2 & 3, rated at 350, 400 & 5 Ctens output per day respectively.
    We are given lots of natural resources for iron industry, but they are rather minor quality. The success in the dressing process for lean ore introduced ainter as main burden, which is so much siliceous, friable and finely, that we are often disturbed our uniform opstion by the big amount of slag and flue dust. Coke is also not strong anough for blast furnace use.
    We have had so many years of difficulties against these bad conditions. But after experience, step by step, with the improvements of raw materials, especially by the merits of sinter, we have arrived at pretty good conditions, Producing about 1, 350tons of pig iron daiiy.

    Die röntgenographischen Untersuchungen bei hohen Temperaturen über 600°C ergaben, dass die Zinnbronzen mit 22 bis 32·5% Zinn einheitlich kubischraumzentrierte β-Phase zeigten. Wennauch in der von Bauer und Vollendruck angegebenen (β+γ)-Grenze keine andere Phase auftrat. Die-Umwandlung bei 580°C ist nicht als die Eutektoid-, sondern als die dem β-Messingähnliche Überstruktur-Umwandlung anzunebmen.
    Die Legierungen mit dem Zinn-Gehalt von weniger als 25% Zinn zeigten einen Zwischenzustand -β'-Phase-wenn sie uber 600°C im Wasser abgeschreckt werden. Jedoch besteht die abgeschreckten Legierungen mit 25 bis 27% Zinn aus der β-Phase.
    Der Verlauf des Zerfalls der abgeschreckten Legierungen beim Anlassen findet wenigstens in zwei Schritten statt, damit ist der Verlauf β→β'→α+δ sicher festgestellt.

    A few years ago. the present authors1) investigated on the transformation points and the microstructure of manganese steels and proposed several structural diagrams for specimens cooled under different conditions. These diagrams are, however, not satisfactory owing to the lack of the specimens examined. In the present experiment, several low carbon steels containing different manganese content, used in the previous investigation or freshly prepared were so much carburized as to get hyper eutectoid structure in edge. These specimens were cooled under several conditions, the same as in the previous investigation. By examining the microstructure of a specimen thus heated along the diameter, the change of structure due to carbon content with a constant amount of manganese in the case cooled under the same condition was studied.
    From the result, examined the structure of all the specimens cooled under several conditions, the structural diagrams proposed in the previous paper were revised.
