1) Quenching Cracks of alloy steels without nickel are studied by means of the repeated quenching. The tendency of quenching cracks does not decrease on account of the addition of nickel as alloying element, but that tendency decreases due to the lowering of transformation temperature by the additioh of nickel.
2) A sort of quenching cracks appears es. pecially in high carbon steel and Si-Mn-Cr steel, which is concerned to the existence of the residual carbides.
3) The rejecting methods of the quenching cracks of low W-Cr steel on account of machining stress are studied. The method to reject that quenching cracks is the annealing at the temperature, at which the hardness after normalising is the lowest.
