The effects of dopamine, dobutamine, mmrinone and milrinone on cardiopulmonary function were evaluated in isoflurane-anesthetized dogs. Each drug induced the increase in cardiac output dose dependently, and the degree of increase at same dose level (low, middle, high) was almost equivalent. Dopamine and dobutamine increased heart rate and myocardial oxygen consumption dose dependently. Dopamine increased arterial pressure at high dose, while dobutamine did not change on arterial pressure and tended to decrease pulmonary vascular resistance dose dependently. Amrinone and milrinone decreased arterial pressure, systemic vascular resistance and pulmonary vascular resistance, and increased heart rate at high dose without increase of myocardial oxygen consumption.

A 2-year-old female miniature dachshund dog was referred for hemorrhage from a frontal region of head and nasal cavity and deterioration of a general state. CT and MR images indicated the presence of depression fracture of the frontal bone and the brain to be considerably compressed and recognized a broad edema. An operation was performed extraction of the depressed fracture piece and the reconstruction of the frontal sinus. The repair of the bone and the improvement of brain compression and edema were recognized by CT examination just after the operation and MRI examination at the fourteenth day after surgery. Postoperative recovery was good, such as the normalization of menace reflection and standing at the second day after surgery. The dog has been in good physical condition for 24 months.

Two cats with temporomandibular joint ankylosis accompanied with severe adhesion of zygomatic arch and mandibula caused by the trauma were treated aggressively. As unilateral or bilateral condylectomy did not improve the opening of mouth, unilateral partial vertical ramusectomy was added in case 1 and bilateral vertical ramusectomy was added in case 2. Aggressive surgical treatment and post operative rehabilitation resulted in good clinical outcome in both cases.
