Hole location error often causes in micro drilling. Here, the influence of chisels with and without thinnnng upon hole location error is investigated experimentally. Although a micro drill tip runs toward rotating center in general, Φ0.1 mm micro drills with thinnning are not always centerized when they rotate eccentrically at 10-20microns.

The present study aims to measure small sized holes with diameters of 17 to 24 mm and depth of 1 m. The system consists of a laser interferometer to detect hole accuracy, a probe connected to a measurement bar and an optical apparatus to detect probe attitude (position and inclination). The probe is supported by skids. The probe position at the skids is continuously detected by the optical apparatus and compensated from the data acquired by the laser interferometer. In this study, the system was developed, and performance test was carried out. Experimental results show that deep hole with a diameter of 17.5 mm can be measured using the system. Measurement accuracy can be improved with theoretical compensation and improvement of the system.

Stereo robot vision system achieve stereopsis by using two cameras. To solve the correspondence problem between right and left images, we proposed a pattern matching technology and applied the technology to a stereovision system. The proposed pattern matching technology employs a liquid crystal display (LCD) and utilizes the polarization of light. We use the LCD function of controlling light penetration for our pattern matching. We use two LCDs arranged in piles. The image from each camera is displayed on one of the LCDs; the correspondence between the two images is then judged by the light intensity through the two-layer LCD. Using this two-layer LCD, correspondence between complete objects in the images is roughly obtained, and the calculation for the pattern machining can be reduced. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed technology, the stereo camera was mounted on a remote-control model car, and an experiment was conducted for automated driving. The images of the target vehicle and other objects in front of the autonomous vehicle obtained from the right and left cameras were displayed on the two-layer LCD, and the distances to the preceding car and other objects were calculated through triangulation.

Recently, many accidents arise from the overlap with human action range and machines actuation region. In order to operate machines safely in the overlaps, we need time and space sensor for safe. Then, the purpose of the research is to develop simple, low-cost and applying to wide region sensor. In this paper, the following are reported: 1)The principle of velocity measurement 2)The result of velocity measurement experimentation.

The data for automatic piano is expressed thousands of notes, so we take a long time to edit parameters of each note. Then, we developed efficient support system based on an idea, ″If musical note sequence is similar, performance expression of each phrase is almost the same″. The system consists of two systems. One is ″Searching system″. This system searches similar phrases by using dynamic programming matching. Another is ″Inferring system″. This system infers performance expression of non-editing phrases by using input phrases' data, but the data contains some influence of musical symbols such as dynamic marks. Then, this system tries to remove the influence by referring to databases.

This paper deals with a reverse engineering system which automatically constructs the mathematical model of a physical model based on measurement data. Four methods are proposed; the first one is to smooth measured data by fitting a quadric surface to measurement data, the second one is to uniform measurement data density by converting measurement points into 3D lattice point, the third one is to segment measurement data based on maximum curvature and normal direction, and the last one is to define NURBS surfaces for each segment creating high quality boundary lines between surfaces based on analysis of designer's intention. In order to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, reverse engineering system is developed and the mathematical model is constructed through basic experiments.
