  • —三相200V 10kVAミニモデルによる動作検証—

    This paper deals with a 6.6-kV transformerless STATCOM cascading multiple single-phase H-bridge PWM converters in each phase. The ac voltage of the STATCOM is almost sinusoidal, so that it requires no harmonic filter. Each converter is equipped with a capacitor and a voltage sensor on the dc side, which are electrically isolated from each other. The STATCOM has the capability of self-starting and voltage-balancing without any external power supply or equipment. Experiment by a three-phase 200-V, 10-kVA laboratry system, along with computer simulation, is carried out to confirm the viability and effectiveness of the STATCOM.

    This paper presents the STATCOM using the new concept of inverter system which consists of three inverter units connected in series, and each inverter unit generates a different output voltage such as Vc, 2Vc, 4Vc. This inverter system can output a high quality voltage by a low frequency switching operation. So, it can unite a low loss and a high quality. In this paper, we show the technique to apply STATCOM which uses the inverter system, and examination result.

    Recently, skill preservation of an expert has been a serious problem of the medical or production fields. This paper proposes a motion acquisition and reproduction of human motion by bilateral motion control. The proposed skill preservation system is composed of two modes; acquisition mode and reproduction mode. In the acquisition mode, the control system is based on bilateral control. Since a touching motion is subject to the “law of action and reaction”, it is possible to decompose the force information into action force and reaction force by using the bilateral control. Furthermore, human motion is acquired in decoupled modal space by using the quarry matrix. The decoupled modes correspond to “moving”, “yawing”, “grasping” tasks, and so on. Thus the skilled motion by a human is easily obtained and analyzed in the modal space. In the reproduction mode, the acquired human motion is reproduced in the modal space by the interaction mode control.
    The proposed skill preservation system is applied for grasping motion by three fingers. As a result, both grasping force and moving position are well reproduced automatically. The experimental results show viability of the proposed method.

    This paper presents a control scheme of three-phase to three-phase matrix converters for reducing the number of commutations. The number of commutations during a control period in the proposed control scheme can be reduced to three times from four times in the conventional control scheme. It can be realized by using the output currents in the calculations of the duty factors. As a result, one of the output line voltage waveforms during a control period consists of two voltage levels with same sign of the reference. The switching loss and the output voltage harmonics can be suppressed. The effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm of the matrix converters has been verified by experiments.

    JAEA and KEK are jointly constructing a high intensity proton accelerator project J-PARC. Its main accelerator is 3GeV synchrotron. Its injection bump magnets, especially horizontal paint bump magnets, are excited by large pulse currents. Their rated currents are over 10kA and pulse widths are about 1ms. Tracking errors are required to be less than 1%. Multiple connected two-quadrant IGBT choppers are adopted for their power supplies. Their output currents are controlled by feedback control with minor loop voltage control (m-AVR). When output current of a chopper intermits at small current, its output voltage rises up and current control becomes difficult. In this paper response of m-AVR and output voltage characteristics at current intermittent region are studied and an improved control scheme is proposed. The performance is confirmed by a test.

    This paper proposes a simple and high efficiency control method for a high-frequency link three-phase AC/AC direct converter. There are three topics in this paper. First, the control strategy of the AC/AC converter is proposed based on a conventional rectifier and inverter system. Thus, the proposed method realizes wide control range and the high performance as same as the conventional PWM rectifier and inverter system. Second, the proposed method is that a switching loss can be reduced by the proposed commutation method using a voltage polarity. The commutation timing of the secondary converter synchronizes with generating zero voltage vector of secondary converter. Therefore the zero voltage period of secondary converter is made by short circuit of the transformer during the zero voltage vector of secondary converter. Thus, the proposed method prevents commutation failure and reduces switching loss for ZVS. In this result, the proposed method can achieve unity power factor and THD of the input and output current are less than 6%. The total efficiency is 94.7%. Those results provided that the proposed method realizes high efficiency for the high-frequency link converter.

    This paper proposes the safest novel commutation method for a matrix converter. There are two conventional commutation methods which depend on the polarity of the input line voltage (it is called “voltage commutation”) and depend on the polarity of the output current (it is called “current commutation”). However, problem of the voltage commutation is that commutation failure occurs around zero of the input line voltage. It is difficult to detect its polarity due to depending on offset and delay of the sensor. Similarly, the current commutation failure occurs around zero of the load current. A cause of these detection errors are a detection delay and an offset of a sensor. The proposed commutation method combines the input voltage commutation and the load current commutation. Therefore, the proposed commutation method can decrease the commutation failure without high accuracy sensor. In addition, a voltage error compensation based on the proposed commutation method is proposed in this paper. The proposed method can simply compensate for the commutation error of the output voltage and the input current at the same time.
    The effects of the proposed method are confirmed by experimental results with a 750W induction motor and a R-L load. Those results confirm that the proposed commutation can decrease commutation failure. Moreover, the total harmonics distortion of the input current and the output current are 2.6 point and 0.9 point lower than that of the condition without the compensation at 100% output power.

    In this paper, we present the development of interior magnet motors reducing iron loss at high rotational speed under the flux weakening control. The rotor core and magnet shapes are determined by the automatic numerical calculation using combination of the optimization method and the adaptive finite element method. The optimized motor is manufactured to proof the effectiveness by the measurement of the iron loss. Both results of the calculation and the measurement indicate that the iron loss of the proposed motor at the high rotational speed under the flux weakening control is reduced as half compared with the initial rotor shape while the torque is nearly constant.

    Flywheel energy storage systems are focused as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) from the viewpoint of environmental friendliness and high durability performance. Using a low-speed and heavy flywheel, and a low-cost squirrel-cage induction motor/generator, two applications are proposed; 1) 11kW voltage sag compensator using a capacitor self-excited induction generator without semiconductor converters; 2) UPS composed of the flywheel system and an engine generator. From some experimental results, an ideal voltage sag compensator and UPS are realized by the low-technology flywheel system.

    Many types of bilateral control architectures to transmit force sensation have been proposed. Some control methods obtain good performance. Operationality is not satisfactory, however, when these methods are implemented in bilateral systems with large inertia and friction force. In this paper, a novel bilateral control method is proposed to improve operationality of bilateral systems with large inertia and friction force. The proposed method is compared with a conventional method, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by coordinate transformation and experiments.

    This paper proposes a control strategy for matrix converters to reduce the torque ripple in the over-modulation range. In the over-modulation range, motor drive performance of matrix converters is deteriorated because of the output voltage saturation. Especially, the torque ripple which has lower frequency components than the input voltage frequency is remarkable. In this paper, the theoretical analysis about the causes of the torque ripple and the effect of the proposed control strategy are shown. Experimental examinations including performance comparison with a trapezoidal wave modulation are carried out by a 400V, 22kW experimental system. The experimental results verify the validity of the theoretical analysis and confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for reducing the torque ripple. Furthermore, the harmonic distortion of the output current is also reduced compared with the trapezoidal wave modulation.

    In recent years, control system reliability has received much attention with increase of situations where computer-controlled systems such as robot control systems are used. In order to improve reliability, control systems need to have abilities to detect a fault (fault detection) and maintain the stability and the control performance (fault tolerance). This paper deals with the strain gauge sensor fault of a flexible arm robot. In order to achieve a fault-tolerant control system, the effect of the fault is identified as dual Youla parameter by regarding the estimation error of the faulty sensor signal as the faulty plant output. Moreover, Youla parameter is designed so as to suppress the effect of dual Youla parameter. Youla parameter is implemented in GIMC (Generalized Internal Model Control) structure proposed by Zhou. Since GIMC structure includes a conditional feedback, it is suitable for achieving a fault-tolerant control system. The effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant control system is confirmed by some experiments.

    Skill education has been a serious problem in various fields. Since haptic information from the real environment is so important for human advanced skill as well as visual and audio information, the only conventional technology of visual and audio information could not realize accurate skill education. Thus, bilateral control that is able to transmit force sensation from the real environment may become a key technology. Then, multilateral control based on bilateral control that is able to transmit force sensation to several operators is suitable for skill education system. However, it is necessary for application of multilateral control to skill education based on haptic information that the influences from the operators are variable according to the trainee's skill acquisition level. Thus, this paper proposes multilateral control with the transmission ratio that is able to be designed according to the trainee's skill acquisition level. Then, five types of multilateral control are realized by designing the transmission ratio. Finally, the experiments results are shown in order to verify the validity of the proposed method.

    One of the most important events for hopping robot is lift-off; the end of thrusting phase, since hopping motion often comes to be unstable at lift-off. Therefore, we focus on thrusting phase. In this research, we propose a new controller, which is combined two controllers. We also propose a trajectory planning so that a hopping robot follows command value of vertical velocity. The effectiveness of the proposed methods are confirmed by simulation and experiment.

    “DC Micro-grid” is a novel power system using dc distribution in order to provide super high quality electric power. The power is distributed through dc distribution line and converted to required ac or dc voltages by converters placed near loads. The load side converters do not need transformers by choosing proper distributed dc voltage (±170V). The dc distribution line is composed of 3 power lines: +170V line, neutral line and -170V line. The voltages of ±170V have to be balanced to supply high quality power. In this paper, a voltage balancing control method for dc distribution is proposed and studied. Computer simulation results demonstrated that dc micro-grid was able to supply both ac and dc power to loads simultaneously and stably by 3-wire dc distribution and load side converters.

    This paper proposes a suitable power supply for driving linear induction motors. The power supply consists of a voltage source inverter (VSI) and a magnetic energy recovery switch (MERS). Circuit configuration and operation principles of the power supply are described. Power factor correction by MERS can cause an increase of the output power. Technical advantages of using MERS compared with increasing voltage rating of VSI are discussed. Some experiments with a linear induction motor were conducted. The results confirms that MERS can reduce capacity of the VSI or increase output with the same VSI capacity. The number of devices and losses are evaluated on large scale drive system. A half-bridge type of MERS is proposed and discussed. The half-bridge MERS improves disadvantages of using MERS.

    Crossing obstacle detection devices have been installed in the conventional railroad transportation in order to detect the objects which interrupt the railroad operation. These devices, however, have some problems, such as the difficulty in detecting people and wheelchair, and false detection due to the weather conditions. As a solution to these problems, we have developed an obstacle detection device to detect and protect people by using millimeter wave. We conducted verification test on the prototype device under the real environment of the crossing, and we report that we could confirm the feasibility of the product development by our findings of effects of weather condition and detection of correct or false.

    A novel dismantlable adhesion method for recycling operation of interior materials is proposed. This method is applied a high frequency induction heating and a thermoplastic adhesive. For an adhesion of interior material to long steel stud, a conventional spiral coil as like IH cooking heater gives inadequateness for uniform heating to the stud. Therefore, we have proposed an induction heating method with traveling magnetic field for perfect long structures bonding. In this paper, we describe on the new adhesion method using the 20kHz, three-phase 200V inverter and linear induction coil. From induction heating characteristics to thin steel plates and long studs, the method is cleared the usefulness for uniform heating to long structures.

    The improvement of adhesion characteristics is very important for electric train. The driving system of electric train is requested to have a fine anti-slip and anti-skid re-adhesion control system. In order to overcome this problem, we have already proposed anti-slip/skid re-adhesion control system based on disturbance observer and sensor-less vector control. Moreover, we have already applied the proposed method to the actual electric multiple units, which is Series 205-5000. In the experimental results of Series 205-5000 and the numerical simulation results, this paper evaluates and discusses that the proposed anti-slip/skid re-adhesion control system has the desired driving wheel torque response.
