能率的な面も良好な熔接を行ふためには速度と熔接部の諸性質との関係を明かにする必要があるが、先づ熔接速度に関する正確な数値を得ることより出発しなければならない。
母板の移行速度が細く調整し得る半自動式熔接装置により軟鋼母板上にビードを置き、熔接速度に関する基礎的數値を求めた。同時にアンダーカツト、熔込等を調査した。熔接電流値が熔接速度に重要な関係を有することは當然であるが、この關係を明確に示するを得た。母板を豫熱すれば速度を上昇し得る。又母板面に銹が存在すれば速度は或る程度上昇し得る。反對に板厚大となれば速度の低下をよぎなくされる。アンダーカツトの發生は熔接電流、速度及び豫熱温度等と関係して明確に求められる。
本文は芯線直徑2～4mmの被覆熔接棒を交流電源により熔着せる場合に就てであり、直流電源或は裸熔接棒の場合就ては述べてゐない。又熔接部の機械的性質、耐蝕性、熔接應力等に關しての問題も殘されてゐる。

In Part I the theoretical solution for the temperature distribution of welded plates under unstationary states is exhibited.
Now we observed the actual temperature distribution of welded plates using thermo-couples, compared it with the calculated one, and obtained the conclusion that this theoretical solution approximately coinsides with the actual temperature distribution.
The experimental and the theoretical temperature distributions of welded plates are shown in Figs. 4, 5, 6 and 7.
