Treatability of the wastewater containing mold releasing agents discharged from ion alld metal processing was evaluated to select the appropriate process for the wastewater treatment. It was clarified that the organic substances contained in the mold-releasing agent were not removed effectively by the conventionaI treatment process which consists of coagulation and biological treatment, since the biodegradability and removability by coagulation of the substances in the wastewater are very low、It was shown from the experimelltal results that the biodegradability and removability by coagulation ofthe refractory substances in the mold releasing agent can be remarkably improved by Fenton’s oxidation alld ad▽anced ozonation with the addition of hydrogen peroxide.A novel and advanced treatment process involving the chemicaI oxidation, such as Fenton`s oxidatioll or ozonation“rith the addition of hydrogen peroxide,fo110wed by coagulation and biological treatment was prQpQsed for the treatment Qf refractory wastewater discharged from ion and metal pYocessing factory.
