  • 海水蒸発罐に於ける罐石附着防止法の研究

    A effective electrolysis method has been developed and experimentally illustrated for the prevention of boiler scale forming from sea-water.
    The boiler drum and the heating surface are surved as the negative electrode, while a lead or carbon rod. as the positive electrode, which is surrounded by a porcelain porous tube and inserted iv the boiler water, that is sea-water. some iron boilers with different modes of heating are prepared for the experiments. Each boiler has the capacity of several ten liters of boiler water. Several hundred liters of sea-water has been supplied and evaporated. The boiler works are continued for long bouts, while effective and moderate current density of the boiler surface is two or three hundred milli amperes per desimeter square. After the end of these boiler works, almost no scale forming is found on any susceptible surface, and the usefuliness of the method is thus recognized.
    The mechanism of the prevention effect is seemed as follows: As the result of the constant weak electrolysis of sodium chloride during the heating operation, the neighbourhood of the negatively charged inner surface of the boiler drum is sufficiently maintained basic, so that the alkaline earth ions are changed Into muddy state just before the adhesion as the scale. In the present work, therefore, there is no need of keeping all boiler water to be basic, while it is done, in other common methods, so by the addition of boiler cleaners.
  • ローラーの輕重が締め固めに及ぼす影響に就いて

    Laying out a 5×5 Latin spuare, the test was made to determine the more suitable weight by using four different weights of the rollers.(See Table I) The key to the treatments is given with the plan.(See Fig. I)
    A: Check (not rolled). B: Rolled with the roller IV. C; Rolled with the roller III. D: Rolled with the roller II E: Rolled with the roller I.
    The roller wss drawn once there and back at the rate of one meter a second. After treating, moisture in soil of each plot was determined in order to find a rolling effect on moisture. The results are tabulated in the tables 2 to 6.
    On the basis of these results, it may be inferred that the weight of the roller affects directly the consolidation (See Fig.2) and mtoisture (See Fig.3), but the significance of the difference between the treatments can not be found by the analysis of variance.

    We made magnesium compounds such as Mg(OH)2 or MgO from bittern and studied the utilization of these compounds as filler or other agent of rubber. Magnesium hydroxide made from bittern and caustic soda or slaked lime are ignited in electric own for two hours at 800°C we obtained these magnesia. Our investigation is continued with the properties such as filler, activate agent of organic accelerator, optimum proportion of filler and accelerator of rubber latex. We could obtain the following results.
    (1). When I used as filler Mg(OH)2 is worse than magnesium basic carbonate.
    (2). Rnbber which used the Mg(OH)2 made from bittern and slaked lime is superior in property as tensile strength defacement, tear strength.
    (3). Rubber which used the basic magnesium carbonate is inferior to that of Mg(OH)2 in permanent set.
    (4). MgO made from Mg(OH)2 is good accelerator in various base stock but when used in acetaldehyde anilin stock showed wrong results.
    (5). Optimum proportion of Mg(OH)2 and MgO are 35% and 20% for smoke respectively.
    (6). Although MgO is excellent accelerator for latex, it is difficult in practise for local coagulation.
