We made magnesium compounds such as Mg(OH)
2 or MgO from bittern and studied the utilization of these compounds as filler or other agent of rubber. Magnesium hydroxide made from bittern and caustic soda or slaked lime are ignited in electric own for two hours at 800°C we obtained these magnesia. Our investigation is continued with the properties such as filler, activate agent of organic accelerator, optimum proportion of filler and accelerator of rubber latex. We could obtain the following results.
(1). When I used as filler Mg(OH)
2 is worse than magnesium basic carbonate.
(2). Rnbber which used the Mg(OH)
2 made from bittern and slaked lime is superior in property as tensile strength defacement, tear strength.
(3). Rubber which used the basic magnesium carbonate is inferior to that of Mg(OH)
2 in permanent set.
(4). MgO made from Mg(OH)
2 is good accelerator in various base stock but when used in acetaldehyde anilin stock showed wrong results.
(5). Optimum proportion of Mg(OH)
2 and MgO are 35% and 20% for smoke respectively.
(6). Although MgO is excellent accelerator for latex, it is difficult in practise for local coagulation.
