The solubility of MgO in CO
2 saturatedwater was reported by Terada.(1)(1931)
When CO
2 pass into Mg(OH)
2water suspension the dissolution of impure Mg(OH)
2 obtained from sea water brine by Ca(OH)
2 was investigated by Nishikawa
(2)(1939)
We examine on the two samples of Mg(OH)
2 one is Mg(OH)
2 formed by reaction of 300g/l MgCI
2with 10%NaOH for 30min., at 50-55°C, under 200r. p. m., Another is a Mg(OH)
2 sample (impurity 1. 16%CaO in dry matter) which was produced at Ako Nishihama Bitten Factory by a method of mixing condenced bittern-MgCI
2 removed SO
4 by CaCI
2and milk of lime
The results of these experiments are Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. We can not find any remarkable difference between two cases
Next, the influences by adding MgCO
33H
2O, Nacl, MgCI
2 or NaOH _are shown in Fig. 5, Fig 6, Fig 7, Fig. 8, Addition of MgCO
33H
2O crystal has are markable effect on the dissolution curue and some amount of NaC lincreases the velocity of dissolutior and the concentration of Mg(HCO
