In attempt to clarify the nervous control on the renal circulation, the renal venous flow was observed in the anesthetized dogs, when the animals were subjected to infusion of glucose solution, letting of blood, infusion of noradrenaline, carotid sinus denervation or carotid occlusion, or venous occlusion. All these procedures exerted either vasodilative or vasoconstrictive influence on the renal circulation resulting in either increase or decrease in renal venous flow. These alterations of renal venous flow could also be demonstrated in the perfused kidney with the donor blood using the cross circulation technique, which was devised to show variations of the circulation in the perfused kidney put under the nervous regulation apart from the hemodynamic influences of the recipient animal.

Abnormal axis deviation and deformities of QRS complex of V1 in ECG were investigated by VCG. Left axis deviation in left ventricular hypertrophy was caused by left-postero-superior displacement of QRS loop in VCG, while that in healthy person was reflected by right-postero-superior location of the terminal portion of QRS loop. Right axis deviation in right ventricular hypertrophy was caused by right-antero-inferior displacement of QRS loop in VCG, but that in healthy person was reflected by right-postero-superior displacement of the terminal portion of QRS loop as well as left axis deviation. Late R, lage R/S ratio, notching S and small qrs in V1 were divided into right ventricular hypertrophy, right bundle branch block and normal variant by means of VCG, and presented one criteria to incomplete right bundle branch block in ECG.

Serum total cholesterol levels and lipoprotein β/α ratios were determined in hypertensives and normotensives in a mass survey held in Yamaguchi Prefecture. The average values of these serum lipids were slightly higher in hypertensives than in normotensives, in the same sex and age groups, but no significant differences were found statistically. However, higher lipoprotein β/α ratios were found in hypertensives complicated with cardiac abnormalities as evaluated by electrocardiogram. Slightly higher serum total cholesterol levels and lipoprotein β/α ratios were found in hypertensives complicated with renal dysfunction as indicated by low renal plasma flow and/or low glomerular filtration rate, than in hypertensives without such complications.

The effectiveness of TH-24, a newly synthetized xanthine derivative, was evaluated. The improvement of clinical symptoms was obtained in 29 of 40 anginal patients. The anoxia and exercise tests were performed in selected cases before and after administration of TH-24. Pain and RS-T depression which were observed in the first tests, did not appear in the following tests. There were no remarkable side effects except at rapid intravenous injection.
