Fine powders of Mn-Zn Ferrite were manufactured by the co-precipitation method and sintered into disks.
The effects of pH and temperature in the co-precipitation and aging upon the properties of the sintered ferrites were investigated. As a measure of sintering, the initial permeability and the density were adopted. The pH was found to have a remarkable effect.
The most favorable pH value, giving the maximum initial permeability and density, lies between 9.3 and 13.
The degradation in the lower pH range may be ascribed to the ultra-fineness and included water in the powders. On the other hand, the decrease in the permeability in the upper range proved to be caused by residual Na in the ferrite.
The above-mentioned feature varies with the aging temperature. The degradation in the lower pH range were enhanced at 20°C and that in upper pH at 90°C.

Cross sections of needle-like copper powders reduced from aqueous cupric sulphate solution by glucose were examined. They were exclusively pentagonal.
From these sections and their etch figures, a multiply twinned decahedron structure was suggested.
We demonstrated that the growth of the needle-crystals could be explained on the basis of twinaccelerated growth mechanism and further discussed the growing mechanism of the decahedrons larger than that might be expected from the thermodynamical speculation.
Some observations in favor of these explanations were given.

To obtain the sintered stainless steel having good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, pressing and sintering properties of 18-8 type stainless steel powders were examined. Results are summerized as follows :
    1) Compressibility of powder is improved by the addition of Ni up to 12%.
    2) Relation between the porosity (ε) of the compact and the compacting pressure (P) is given by
    ε0-ε=KlogP0/P.
    3) By pressing at 6t/cm2, presintering at 1050°C for 15 min and repressing at 6t/cm2, the compact of 18Cr-12Ni powder shows the density of 7.1g/cm3, and 7.2-7.3 g/cm3 by resintering at 1250°C for 1hr.
    4) Sintered stainless steels having the density of 6.9-7.2g/cm3 show the tensile strength of 35-42Kg/mm2, elongation of 25-35% and hardness (RB) of 35-55.
    5) The corrosion resistance of sintered steels is closely related to the porosity, and improved with decreasing open porosity.
