In the high-frequency electrodeless discharge, if the plasma has a negative conductance, the discharge state suddenly shifts to the intense discharge from the weak one. Also, it has been experimentally confirmed that the appearance of negative conductance depends upon both the gas pressure p and the high-frequency electric field strength E
1θ. The effect of E
1θ, however, has not been investigated so far. In the present paper, we try to obtain theoretically the critical electric field strength E
c, at which the conductance becomes negative on the basis of the experimental results of radial distribution of electron densities.
