JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe production of highly charged ions of nitrogen, argon, and carbon by a simple electron beam ion source has been described. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe interface for direct coupling of micro HPLC with FAB mass spectrometry has been evaluated as a simple sample introduction system using unstable and/or non-volatile compounds having higher molecular weight. The good reproducibility of chromatograms, little fluctuation and small tailing in chromatographic peak profiles, and the excellent quality of mass spectral patterns were obtained. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSApplication of supercritical fluid chromatography/mass spectrometry (SFC/MS) to the analysis of non-ionic surface active agents (NSAAs). The non-ionic surface active agents used as samples are R-O-(CH2CH2O)n-H, R-COO-(CH2CH2O)n-H, and R-N(CH2CH2OH)2. Polyethylene glycol-400 is also analyzed as a related compound. Their selected ion monitoring traces are shown together with some representative mass spectra. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSField desorption mass spectrometry was applied to a series of underivatized anthracycline, cosmomycins. The mass spectra of the various compounds contain either molecular weight or sugar sequence information. Different fragmentation patterns are obtained from normal and linked field scanning. The mass spectrometric data make it clear that field desorption mass spectrometry become a valuable additional technique for structural analysis of anthracyclines.View full abstractDownload PDF (389K)
