I have compounded six Flavonoids and used them clinically; they are Rutin, Rutin-diphosphate, Quercetin, Myricitrin, 3′, 4′ Dihydroxy-Flavonol and 6-Chloro-3′, 4′ Dihydroxy-Flavonol.
Quercetin which is first used clinically showed a very nice effect upon capillary fragility in comparison with popular capillary stabilizer and moreover showed the strong inhibition against Choline Acetylase.
Ascorbic acid showed the strongest inhibition against Choline Acetylase and its joint use with Flavonoids strengthened the effect clinically and also in Choline Acetylase inhibition.
Parotin showed the Choline Acetylase inhibition as well as Cortisone and ACTH.
The fact that the clinical effect of Flavonoids is parallel with its Choline Acetylase inhibition rate suggests that such a mechanism is held also in vivo.

Recently, at least in the urban areas, a formal beriberi disease has shown a remarkable-decrease, however there are not a few cases developing the symptoms, similar to beriberi.
In these two years, on the 1, 326 out-patients with main complaint of beriberi, I have studied the problem of existance of true beriberi, of entity of beriberi-like conditions and of its treatment.
And the following results have been gained hither-to:
    1) Although there are not a few cases who show symptoms, similar to beriberi, cases of true beriberi are hardly found; all of them are more and less unsound, and most of them must be regarded as beriberi-like conditions without deficiency of thiamine.
    2) It is considered that entity of beriberi-like conditions is of plurifactor, and probably it derives mainly from the unbalance of the internal secretion system and of the automa-tic nervous system.
    3) Consequently, there is no uniform and efficient treatment for it on account of the pluri-factor of its entity.

The cerebral circulation and metabolism were determined by the modification of Kety & Schmidt's nitrous oxide method in 30 case with hemiplegia by the cerebral vascular accidents and one case of apoplectic stroke. In the hemiplegic patients as the results of significantly increased cerebral vascular resistance (CVR) apparently decreased cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral oxygen delivery (CDo2) and reduced cerebral oxygen consumption (CMRo2) were observed.
By the increased cerebral oxygen extraction ratio (CERo2) the diminution of CMRo2 was lesser than the reduction of CDo2. There was no significantly change in cerebral respiratory quotient (CRQ).
In the case of apoplectic stroke a diminution of CMRo2 and CERo2 were observed. In the essential hypertension a increase of CVR was a only change, but when the cerebral arteriosclerosis accompanied with it, CBF and CMRo2 were slightly decreased.
In the cerebral arteriosklerosis one case showed no much change, but the another one proved the decreas of CBF and CMRo2 according to the increased CVR.
In the patients of hemiplegia we observed the relationship between cerebral hemodynamics and the existence of mental changes, the duration after the stroke, the findings of retinae, age and the rehabilitation. However there was no relationship between them.
We assumed that in these cases the changes of cerebral hemodynamics were more based on the advanced cerebral arteriosclerosis or in addition hypertension than the local damage of the brain.
We calculated the cerebral vascular reactivity following the changes of CVR after 5% carbon dioxide inhalation.
Though in the patients of hemiplegia with hypertension were observed some reactivity, it was very much diminished. We measured the effects of papaverin hydrochloride, priscol, aminophyllin and stellateganglion block on the cerebral circulation and then we concluded the methods which let the abnormality of cerebral circulation and metabolism return to normal, is effecient as the therapeutic means.

To define the causes and developments of anemia in infektion, the blood pictures of the bone marrow (chiefly that of sternum) in 29 cases with subacute bacterial endocarditis were studied since 1951 during the process of this disease, and the following results were obtained:
    1) Formation arrest of myeloid series due to decrease in myeloblasts was noticed. The reaction of neutrophilic granulocytes showed a slight hyperplasia and shift to the left (immaturity). This shift was much remarkable in cases with peripheral leukocytosis. Increase in neutrophilic granulocytes get alleviated to less than normal level after administration of antibiotics.
    2) Plasma cells showed a significant increase above the normal value and had a positive correlation with γ-globulin of serum protein fraction.
    3) No evidence of decrease in erythroid series was recognized, exclusive of a few special cases with hypoplasia. Instead, hyperplasia was seen when antibiotics were administered. In erythroid series, similar to neutrophilic granulocytes, there occured the shift to the left, and the more anemia is evident, the more this shift is remarkable.
    4) Accordingly the granulocytic-erythrocytic ratio did not show a significant difference from the normal value.
    5) In some cases of s. b. e., the blood pictures of the bone marrow revealed resembling myelograms to such blood disorders as iron deficiency anemia, aplastic anemia, and chronic myeloic leukemia, but differential diagnosis might be possible after recognition of essential difference.
    6) The isolation rate of the causative organisms by the blood culture of the bone marrow was lower than the arterial or venous blood.
