1) A “catalase factor” which when injected into the peritoneal cavity of experimental animals will reduce the liver catalase activity, can easily be demonstrated in the urines of patients with cancer, independent of its site but not cases of benign diseases.
2) The factor can also be extracted from gastric juice in patients with gastric carcinoma but not with benign lesions.
3) The factor can similarly be demonstrated in the exudates of various serous surfaces in the presence of cancer but not in the exudates and transudates of heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver and other nonmalignant disorders.
4) It was noted that the injection of cancerous exudates did not kill the mice whereas many of the animals died following injections of urine extracts from cancerous humans.
