Three strains of anaerobic
Actinomyces (the Pasteur, the Minowa, and the Enomoto strains) were studied for their ABO blood group activity. The result obtained were as follows:
1. The Forssman antigen was found in the Pasteur strain.
2. The blood group A antigen with a structure similar to that of the human A cells was found in the Enomoto and the Minowa strains.
3. The X-antigen was found in the Pasteur strain.
4. The carbohydrate-like fractions of each strain appeared to be carriers of the A and the Forssman antigens.
