Chromosomal screening was undertaken in 71 couples who had more than two repeated spontaneous abortions and/or stillbirths. Eight persons showed chromosome abnormalities of four different types. In one couple, both the wife and the husband had chromosome abnormalities. The wife showed a partial translocation between a B and a C chromosome, while her husband had a centric fusion-type D/G translocation. There was another husband who showed a partial C/D translocation. This couple had three children, one of whom had the same chromosome anomaly as that of his father. Five other husbands had an abnormally long Y chromosome. It is likely that most fetuses having a lethal chromosome abnormality are aborted in the first trimester.

A long arm iso-X chromosome was described in a chromatin positive patient, with clinical signs of atypical Turner's syndrome together with secondary amenorrhea, on the bases of autoradiography and buccal smear studies. A correlation between the iso-X and Turner stigmata, particularly short stature, was considered.

Oxygen-equilibrium characteristics of Hb Norfolk (α
57Asp2β
A2) are shown to be identical with those of Hb A. The amino acid substitution occurred in the position E6 (α57) which is adjacent to the distal histidine residue• in the primary structure of the mutant hemoglobin does not produce any measurable effect on the functional property of heme iron. The structure-function relationships of the substituted side chain are briefly discussed.

Hemagglutination test of the Bm type red cells was carried out before and after B and O decomposing enzyme treatment. The result of this test leads to the presumption that the serological antigen structure of Bm type and O type red cells is very similar.
