Somatic chromosome complements were investigated in kidney tissue cells derived from two common varieties of gold-fish, Wakin, and Ryukin, and two local varieties of the Funa, Gengorobuna and Mabuna, with the application of the current air-drying method.
Information was obtained that the diploid chromosome number was 100 in both sexes, that the karyotypes of the Funa and gold-fish were identical in general appearance, and that no heteromorphic element was detected in male cells of gold-fish or in female cells of the Funa.
