We developed a new ray-trace simulation method for numerical evaluation of high precision aspherical optics using measured point-set. Surface profile of a magic mirror was measured by a laser probe 3 dimensional measuring instrument, its invisible image was extracted from the measured points using geometrical processing and ray tracing simulation of image formation was performed.

An on-machine form error compensation system has been developed for aspheric lens mold fabrication. The system consists of an ultrahigh precision machine tool with laser scale signal splitters and a non-contact laser measurement probe. After aspheric lens mold fabrication by diamond turning and its form measurement using the laser probe without removal from the vacuum chuck on the machine tool, its form error was compensated by a new machine trajectory produced from a form error profile on previous cutting procedure.

There is a sharp increase in the demand for various minute components in fields of biomedical, optics, electronics, etc. These components have been tried to manufacture using various technologies and methods. In this paper the method using ultra-precision die and high-precision injection molding machine is proposed. This method will be probably effective for mass production of components. Then, the basic experiment of micro-cutting with non-rotational tool is carried out for producing its die. The precious micro-cutting of electro-less Nickel-Phosphorous plated steel has been accomplished without burr, swell-up, which can be hardly removed on tail-end process.

In this study, we examined the cutting characteristics (micro-cutting force and surface roughness) of micro-turning using a micro-turning apparatus (micro-lathe) and a micro-cutting force measurement device that we developed. Workpieces made from aluminum alloy (A5056), copper alloy (C3604) and stainless steel (SUS303) were used for the turning experiments. In the turning processes, the cutting characteristics were measured at different cutting speeds and different depths of cuts. From these experimental results, it has been made clear that the cutting force depends on the area of chip section, the cutting speed and the workpiece materials. When the area of chip section was 0.1mm2 or less and the cutting force was minute, the surface roughness of aluminum alloy and copper alloy were Ra30-50nm.

In Japan, with the active international exchange, the number of international students increases year by year. However, there are some problems: disagreement about the subjects of the specialty between the foreign students and the Japanese acceptance schools and the variation in their academic ability including the Japanese language. For the reason, it is difficult for the international students to understand normal class subjects and special supplementary lectures are often assigned to them. In the case of the international students of poor academic achievement, if their motivation to studies is lower than Japanese students′, they will be prone examination failure. In this research, the manufacturing of the micro-robot for the international micro-mechanism contest has been introduced as one of the methods for increasing the international students′motivation and then the effectiveness of developing creativity was investigated. As a result, the participation in the international micro-mechanism contest proved effective not only in enhancing students′ motivation and developing their creativity but also in raising their awareness of their future as engineers who can see situations from the point of view of other people.

Radius-based evolutionary algorithms for Multimodal Optimization are criticized for the difficulty of the proper choice of radius which is crucial in assuring accurate results. TSC2 uses Detect-Multimodal Method to detect different peaks on landscape without assigning a radius. However, it needs mass number of additional evaluations which makes it expensive on time cost. This paper proposed a new algorithm to estimate the boundaries of peaks and archives them to reuse. It costs much fewer evaluations comparing to TSC2.

The violin is played by combining the fingering and bowing. Bowing is assumed that it has a big influence on the tone.This study sees bowing and control of bow force. The purposes of this research are the elucidation of the mechanism man's force control, and development of the performance deivce.In this paper,we let the bowing device perform various parformance movement and inspect whether it is proper in the control of bow force.
