A new method was established for a high yield of purified IgD by using ion exchange chromatography under the conditions where the IgD protein was not absorbed.
Despite the buffer containing 0.01M ε-amino caproic acid was used to protect against proteolysis, spontaneous degradation of IgD occured during purification step at 4°C. The molecular weight of this degradation fragment was about 123, 000 daltons determined by SDS-PAGE. It was, therefore, probable that the fragments were F (ab)2δ or the dimer of Fcδ and Fabδ.
For the study of the reactivity aginst Fabδ portion, specific rabbit anti-IgD antibody was prepared and compared with those supplied commercially. The results indicated that the latter did not show any reaction against Fabδ, suggesting that it may lack the antibody against Fdδ.

The physico-chemical and kinetical properties of abnormal pseudocholinesterase (p-ChE) in two families (J. T. and K. K.) were studied and discussed.
The p-ChE levels of the patient J. T. and K. K. were 10% and 3% of the lower limit of normal ranges, respectively. The p-ChE of patient J. T. was classified as homozygote for atypical gene by the inhibition studies. However, the p-ChE of K. K. showed much larger Km-values for several substrates than normal controls and the Hill's number of the patient's p-ChE was 1.10, though the values less than 1.0 were usually obtained from normal control. Therefore, the p-ChE of K. K. have not the allosteric property with negative cooperativity, as was the nature of normal one. Further studies by isoelectric focusing and slab PAG electrophoresis revealed the traces of the activity of p-ChE in the patient J. T., but any activity band was not detected in the patient K. K. These results indicated that the patient J. T. was homozygote of atypical gene and that the patient K. K. was homozygote for silent gene. It was suggested that the analysis of Hill's number, additional to the conventional inhibition studies, might be useful for the detection of the silent gene of p-ChE in details.

Ovary proteins in 2 normal and 38 maternal effect mutants of Drosophila melanogater were analysed by two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Approximately 300 protein spots were detected in the ovary and the embryo samples, of which 140 were also found in adult somatic tissues both in the head and in the thorax. Among 38 maternal effect mutants studied, some showed changes in protein patterns which probably reflected allelic differences. In no cases, however, changes were reflected to the maternal effect mutant genes.
